One of my favorites from last year. Of course Prayer For Cleansing is an all timer for me. Love that sound.

Anyone really into sludge here? I’m finding a lot of it interesting in theory but otherwise hard to get into i.e. Eyehategod, Dystopia. Like I implied, I love Crowbar but I think it’s rooted enough in doom to make it more palatable

baroness and mastodon are the easiest sludge bands to get into if you haven't tried their earlier works before they incorporated sonter and prog respectively

High on fire was also super easy for me to get into, and then there's torche which is basically pop sludge

Haven't listened to this band since 2012. Couldn't get into them then, but my taste was not like it is now. Gonna give Container Ships a listem now, thanks

Hah so I should’ve worded my post a little better. I listen to enjoy all the bands you mentioned. I guess I’m talking about the more crusty, nihilistic end of sludge. Down definitely trends that way for sure.

Pat I will check out Kowloon, thanks

Thinking about going to see Eyehategod and CroMags next weekend. Not really familiar with either band but now seems like a good time to make myself familiar.

Have you explored their back catalog? Their other albums and Algiers the compilation album are just as good

Shoulda been Horrendous, sick death metal band I've gotten into recently from Philly

I have not. Never being able to listen to every good artist’s back catalog is a curse of living. I will at least listen to their most recent at some point

Same lol today I just realized Mammoth Grinder has a couple more records other than the one that just dropped and I'm getting side tracked of listening to a bunch of new bands diving back into them now haha

Some good picks( Pallbearer, Visigoth, Converge, Slipknot).

Some I can’t tell with the text which is the norm for the genre lol
