Heavy Blog Is Heavy has their review of the new BTBAM album up. Their last album was the first one I never bought as I didn't really care for it. I'll listen to this one but it doesn't sound super interesting.

Incredible album. Gold standard for melodic death, right up there with The Jester Race and The Gallery.

 

It's funny going backward and hearing classics so late in the game because now it's like clear as day where a band like darkest hour got their main influence but before I just had no idea

That Alterbeast release seriously does sound like a literal Black Dahlia clone it's ridiculous, haha. Good record, though, for sure.

 

I'm liking the lineup so far for Arc-Tan-Gent festival this year, I might finally go to it. It's run by the same organisers as one of my favourite UK festivals (2000 Trees) and I've only heard great things about it.

 

The new Rolo Tomassi album that came out today is really fucking good.

Post-Metal\Post-Rock stuff with a bit of mathcore thrown in, it's got that heavy/melodic dynamic thing going on.

RIYL bands like Isis, Pelican but with vocals, Envy.

I should add they're female fronted too so you kinda get that whammy of really melodic vocals going into aggressive vocals.

 

Oh! I need to check it out then. That festival looks amazing by the way.

 

Guys, all this discussion is lovely, but here's a new AT THE GATES song.

 

Yeah I've been watch that festival grow over the last few years, they tend to cater to that Post-everything/extreme metal crowd. Basically anyone doing anything interesting and trying to push the envelope. My main problem is finding mates to drag along to it but this year I might stand a better chance with that line up.

 

If only I lived in the UK...

yep. :)

i like at the gates a lot. the track is a mediocre track by at the gates standards after a couple listens, but it's a single so i'll give it a pass for now.

 

Sounds like I'm going to love this. I'll definitely add it to my list to check it out.
