I listened to Pelican's Fire In Our Throats, Ataraxia, and Forever Becoming yesterday and, I gotta say, Forever Becoming definitely struck me the most. I don't know why it wasn't clicking with me for the past five years, but I'm glad it is now. Loved it.

Man I need to give Chevalier another chance. And that Ataraxy album is so good.

Also idk if anyone really listened to them (I did for a minute) but Tengger Calvary broke up

I heard about Tengger Cavalry today. I didn't talk about them much, but they were one of my favorites. I'm really sad, and pretty damn pissed off given the reason for their splitting up (sketchy, racist music business assholes). They were really something special.

yeah the whole thing sucks. I enjoyed one of their albums (can't remember which one it was). at least they got out before it could get worse I guess

^ I'm so fuckin' mad about that tour, man. I'm going to be out of the country when it comes near me.

Hence why I said deathcore-ish since theirs some undeniable tech-death elements there too. Their guitarwork blew my mind when I was a wee lad getting into more extreme music. But the last time I listened to any of their music (the last EP they put out), it was more of a cacophony than anything else. Probably just my tastes changing over the years.

They’d fit well in the current tech metal wave

RE: Best of Metal on Bandcamp for February

This Chevalier release is great instrumentally, but the mix on Bandcamp sounds muffled to me. With a much more powerful mix with vox at the forefront (vocalist has an amazing voice), these guys (and lady) could put out an AOTY caliber record IMO.

Further RE: Best of Metal on Bandcamp for February

Synth-laden melodic black metal that doesn't sound uber-symphonic? Count me in. This sounds great so far. I'm excited to see these guys in May at MDF.

Going to see Harms Way tomorrow so I watched some of their live footage. I'm kind of getting nervous.

I'd be more worried about Vein personally. People get hyped and throw down to that band:

This is also video from This is Hardcore so take my thoughts with a grain of salt but expect violence.

I'll get there early, so that I can see Vein, but also so that I can find a safe place to watch the show from.
