Eh. Even though I'm more likely to give them a pass because they're Goatwhore as opposed to I Declare War, that shirt's still pretty lame. And I truly doubt Goatwhore would respond to critiques of their merch like a 14 year old just discovering 4Chan.

I still think the worst in edgy metal merch is this classic from Cradle of Filth:

I'd definitely be more likely to give Goatwhore a pass, but I still don't understand why you'd want to wear a shirt that says that, but hey, to each his own.

 

oh. agreed. if it says something nsfw on the back, i tend to avoid it as most of the merch I buy will fall into my everyday wardrobe. though i make some exceptions, like this gem from Speedwolf with Joe Flacco's head on pike that says "FUCK FLACCO" on the front and "FUCK CRAB" on the back that I got at MDF in 2013:

I've always hated any stereotypical metal fashion which includes the tacky merch. If you wanna buy it to collect or to support the band that's cool but geez seeing a guy in his thirties wearing a shirt with metal lyrics...why?

 

that being said, cradle of filth is like, a 14 year old edgelord's idea of a metal band, so it's not remotely surprising their merch is dumb. their album artwork is consistently dumb as hell. like, no one thinks the mall goth undertaker schtick is cool at all ever please stop

 

Oh, for sure. I get that it's not serious. I just don't know who would want to be the guy wearing that shirt around town.

 

Just listened through the new Veil of Maya - I simply can't get into djent. It seems sooooo limited in it's sonic possibilities; it's the same sound over and over again

 

I don't think veil of Maya is a good measuring stone for djent. They've been stagnant for years.

 

Doesn't help they only have/use one guitarist in their band either

Well... I saw two different dudes on two different occasions recently wearing that Goatwhore shirt and the other dude an Attila shirt that said something like "suck my fuck" on it. Both guys were in their 30s and at family restaurants. I get the whole "not giving a fuck" attitude, but c'mon.

 

I can't get too mad at IDW over that dumb shirt because they also recently released a "Fuck Nazis" shirt which had all sorts of pissbabies angry with them over it. So, plus one and minus one, I guess. Lol.

 

i have nothing else to contribute to this shirt discussion other than this.

in new music news and views, amenra's new album is pretty dope. god mother's new album is solid - a bit of a grower after maktbehov, but there are some moments of brilliance there.

 

Is anyone else not really able to get into these new Gorephilia and Undergang albums? I dunno, maybe it ties into the whole Tomb Mold issue/discussion but like, they're good as OSDM releases but they really don't stand out to me that much? If I want filthy, rancid death metal, I'd much sooner listen to something like Pissgrave or something like that.

 

Yeah there's nothing ground breaking about them, but they're solid death metal albums for sure. Gorephilia does Morbid Angel worship right and Undergang has got that supply of beefy riffs similar to Bolt Thrower that I am a sucker for.

There are much better death metal albums that have been released this year, but I do enjoy these two as well.

honestly, that doesn't bother me. I'm pretty sure there conversations that happen in public that worse then those shirts. You can take my opinion for what it worth though as i've been asked to turn several a band shirt inside out or leave as an adult. Even got booted out of a cab over a shirt. Which i still crack up about. It was a shirt for the band jack off jill. Ok, not metal but i like them. It's the **** shirt. He didn't even see that on the back. He was offended by the front. lol

 

ok, even chorus don't like that word. lol for reference here the see you next tuesday shirt.

 

Just please for the next 4 minutes put away your biases against ADTR and listen. Because that breakdown at the end is a facemelter
