But seriously, I am interested to hear the whole thing. The last record was "ok" but I miss their older sound a lot.

 

Haha, it's an accurate description of their sound for sure. Buzz/hype behind the album is big

 

My friend convinced me that the lyrics were "I see a fire in this guy". Laugh every time I hear it now.

 

The new record from The Haunted is pretty... pretty... pretty good.

I haven't really listened to them much since Common Man's Collapse, but the new Veil song is pretty good.

Exactly, in 2009 I dug veil so much and I only enjoy it now nostalgically. Similar sentiment for a lot of bands on Sumerian.

The new Vattnet is a lot better than I thought it would be. Kinda sounds like Astronoid meets Thrice meets Coheed? Maybe? My ears may also be off.

 

Reminds me a bit of Jupiter-era Cave In.

probably a better comparison that i hadn't considered because I haven't listened to Cave In in years. gonna jam White Silence now.

 

if this is in reaction to the new Vattnet, they lost their vocalist last year and decided to continue on. casey (the bassist) took over on vocals, and this is the end result. casey and seamus (the drummer) also play in astronoid and were pretty clear about the direction the new material was gonna take when i asked them about what was going on with vattnet. seamus also plays (or played) in vanna and my fictions so i imagine we'll get some more touring from them next year.

 

Everyone needs to check out the big|brave album out on southern lord today. Amazing sludgey slowcore post-something or another with violin and contrabass contributions from members of GY!BE and Silver Mt Zion.
