Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

Toned it down from Strangers Only for sure. I can really hear the Deftones kind of infuence in it after a few listens. Got me excited for the full record but I am really hoping for a lot more harsh vocals from Nick.

Literally my exact feelings toward it. I've warned up to it considerably since the first time I heard it. I can't wait this thing to drop.

I'm not a variant collector. I don't have the $$$ nor the obsession to do that sadly. :(

Unpopular opinion: Necrot is the best current band on that tour with BDM/Suffocation. Blood Offerings is straight fire.

100% agree. One of my fave DM releases of the year, and it's a stacked year for the genre.

The new records from Thy Art Is Murder, Gravemind, and Spite all blew me the fuck away.

I had a bit of a deathcore binge day after going nothing but brutal-death for about a week straight.

yeah I liked the new Thy Art Is Murder. Always been kinda lukewarm on them in the past but I dig this one. Which is weird because it's really not any different, stylistically. I guess it just seems like there's more riffs and less breakdowns, and generally more cohesive songwriting all around.

I heard someone else say there's a much stronger Behemoth influence on Dear Desolation, and I agree with that to an extent. It definitely does seem riffier, which is a very good thing.

I can hear that. Fit For an Autopsy copping Gojira, Thy Art Is Murder copping Behemoth haha. I'm fine with it. But yeah, now that you mention that I definitely get some Behemoth vibes, especially in the dissonant patterns they're playing higher up the neck.

Also is it just me who finds it kinda weird how Behemoth seem to be gaining a lot of popularity lately? Seems like they are, at least. I work at Hot Topic and we got a big stack of Behemoth shirts in stock recently and they've almost all sold out pretty fast.

    The scene kids are evolving.

In all seriousness though, HotTopic has surprised me in the past in terms of how heavy some of the stuff they carry has been. I've been in there a couple times for shits and gigs in the past couple years and been a bit surprised to see shirts from bands like Cannibal Corpse and Death there, and which actually seemed to sell.
