Started Nabokov's Pale Fire in my new quest to read all books mentioned in Menz songs (previous ones I knocked out this year are Lolita and 1984)
"I was the shadow of the waxwing slain, I felt the false azure of the window pane" from the obits is a reference to pale fire
From Chamberlain Waits: "Somebody's drinking my last ration of Victory Gin". Victory Gin is the dystopian government's state-produced alcohol in 1984.
Only possible tour I can see out of this is if Menz are opening the Japandroids/Cloud Nothings show. But that also doesn't seem likely to me
Anyone have The Menzingers cover EP and willing to PM a share? I've been trying to find it for a long time now and will make sure not to pass it around. Thanks.
Say what you cats will about Tom songs, but man do they get the kids moving in the pit. As evidenced by today's Riot Fest
Someone may have the order down better, but the acoustic set Greg did at the G-Man was something like this: Midwestern States Nothing Feels Good Anymore Mexican Guitars Sun Hotel (On The Possible Past version) Rivalries Unreleased Greg Song Deep Sleep Time of Your Life (Green Day cover)
Any of you who didn't go to Project Pabst Philadelphia at the Electric Factory on Saturday screwed up, The Menz killed it and played I think 22 songs. PBRs were flying and the crowd was a jam. Here's the setlist, slightly out of order but they definitely played these (might be missing a song but I think got them all). Tellin' Lies I Don't Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore House On Fire The Obtiuaries Thick As Thieves Midwestern States Good Things Burn After Writing Bad Catholics Who's Your Partner Boy Blue My Friend Kyle Your Wild Years Nice Things Where Your Heartache Exists After The Party Gates Lookers Encore: Sun Hotel Irish Goodbyes Livin' Ain't Easy In Remission
After show last night was so awesome as was their set at Riot. What a fucking band.. I can't wait to see them again next month! Anyone going to any of the Sublime dates or headliner dates?
