Agreed. I like the original version of it but absolutely adore the acoustic version (which also has that extra verse).
I’ll never understand the HE hate. Especially when it was made even better with the acoustic follow-up. menzingers are probably my favorite punk band so a ranking is hard but I think it would go like: Hello Exile/From Exile After the Party OTIP RW CW HOD ALIAIT
Hello Exile is probably at the bottom of the pile for me from CW onward, but only by the tiniest margin. Still a pretty excellent record top to bottom with a few of my favorite Menz songs
Did an entire discography run over the past two days and this is probably how my list falls: ATP HE OTIP RW CW HOD ALIAT ATP and HE are both pretty close for me, though.
I’d probably like HE more if the production was better. I also just adore the stretch from Hold on Dodge to ATP. Band has been amazingly consistent and puts out great tunes. Very excited for the new tunes. The production is probably the best it’s sounded since OTIP and is incredibly crisp. The exact opposite of what I was expecting.
Hot take: after getting used to the vocals I ended up really liking the production on Hello Exile , the drums in particular sound huge
I just got an email asking if I wanna switch my vinyl order to Media Mail and they’ll refund the difference.
Anyone get this email from the menzingers@emeraldfullfillment.com? Not sure if real or spam but would be some crazy spam when I did pre-order the vinyl and did pay a ton in shipping lol
I remember on the pod when you said Midwestern States was the point where you knew ATP was going to be amazing, and that makes me incredibly excited if you love this new one too.
I’m digging the songs so far, but as a drummer, I’m not loving how the drums sound in the mix, especially on There’s No Place. I loved Will Yip’s production on the drum sounds on ATP and HE, so to me that’s the only disappointing factor for me. Glad to finally have the vocals back to the forefront again, which is what made me fall in love with this band in the first place. Greg sounds amazing.
New song is great. It's gonna be a great live sing-a-long. Production is good, feels like there's some separation and space.
i did this cool thing a couple years ago where i got married and my exwife reconnected with an old flame two weeks later and immediately cheated on me, first two songs have me thinking this record is coming for my stability lmao
