Couldn’t disagree more haha. Feels like the most paint by numbers tracks on here. Tracks 4-7 are the stretch for me. Definitely my least favorite Menz album since… Chamberlain Waits? I like the way it sounds though!
3-7 are my favorites. I also think this is the first album from them since OTIP where I like Tom’s songs just as much as Greg’s. Come On Heartache and Ultraviolet are excellent additions to Greg’s catalog though.
Yeah, this sits comfortably with the best of their work for me...which is pretty much all of their work. So. Good job, Menzingers. I appreciate you.
This album is definitely their most mature album. I appreciate how they went for it and enhanced the direction they were taking on Hello Exile, an album that means the world to me. I’m excited to keep listening to this over the next year. I can see it holding strong for me.
agreed they feel a little paint by numbers, just not as much as the rest of this lol. title track and ultraviolet are prob the closest other songs to tracks i dig admittedly
I know they told us it would ship in January but it's crazy none of the vinyls are out for this yet lol
Someone on here got theirs already, so at least some of the stock has been in for a while. I didn't even preorder since I knew it would be such a long wait. I'll pick it up at a record store at some point.
Does anyone have quality mp3's of Dirty Old Town and Whiskey in the Jar? My versions sound like they're being played through a tin can. Would really appreciate the help if anyone can! Thx
I think this is firmly in the Tier of "album with a lot of good ass menzingers songs" which is basically everything aside from OTIP and ATP which are both essentially insurmountable. Ultraviolet is probably my favourite song of the year. Some of it Was True and Come on heartache and Alone in Dublin are right up there too.
This wasn't really what i was looking for from them when i first heard it but once i got past that i loved it. I think it's #3 right behind OTIP and ATP
I went to a record store yesterday and they had this vinyl in stock and I almost grabbed it before remembering I preordered it 5 months ago lol I’ve gotta stop preordering vinyls because 10/10 times I can grab it in store before it ships and arrives from a preorder
This was me yesterday. I’m assuming it will be here any day or I would’ve just bought it and cancelled my preorder.
This is a really good album; it has grown on me. I think I might have it slightly ahead of Hello Exile, or at least equal with.
