I don’t know why the intro/instrumental to Alone in Dublin sounds like the theme song to an 80s show to me. Just me?
I think OTIP and HE are their best, followed by RW, and I have a feeling this record is a perfect combination of those three.
Honestly I got nothing concrete to it and I’m more just going off vibes lol When I hear Tom’s vocal melody in the verses they just remind me of something Green Day would write.
Been listening to this album all weekend. It's a great Fall album and another gem in the band's catalog.
After several listens I feel like I can comfortably say this probably won’t touch OTIP or ATP for me, but that’s perfectly okay. It will slot in nicely in that second tier (which is still very, very good) with RW/HE/CW. This band can do no wrong
Listened to this 3 times on a plane ride today and can safely say nobody stays in one of my favorite menzingers songs ever and Tom really is the mvp of this album I adore all four songs of his. Honestly the first two singles might be my least favorites on the album but this is yet another fantastic album from these guys, they’re a special band I feel so happy they’re continuing to make music.
I think this is the most 90s they've ever sounded and that rules haha. Only got to listen once so far, but Ultraviolet is my favorite track. Hope is a Dangerous Little Thing is going to be a blast live.
This new album is incredibly mature and intentional when it comes to the writing. Too bad this album is going to remind me of the time I got Covid for the first time. Haha.
