It is getting better for me on more listens but right now i'd put it on the lower end of their discog (I DO LIKE IT THO)
It’s gotta be Love at the End cause last night I told my wife the melody reminded me of Green Day lol
ha that's my least favourite! Struggling to connect to this album, love the rest from Chamberlain to Hello Exile. The Menz bite feels gone for me from these songs, and lyrically there's only a couple of lines I really like, whereas usually there's loads
This is fine I guess. There’s a few songs I really enjoy like Ultraviolet, Hope, and Alone in Dublin, but can’t see myself coming back to this much.
Probably first time I didn’t even fishing the listen. Not necessary bad but I feel like heard all the songs before.
I definitely enjoy this a lot more than HE. I don’t think anything will touch the Chamberlain-Rented World stretch and that’s ok. Those are three of my favorite albums ever. I’m just glad the production lets the music shine and this is probably the best Tom has sounded since OTIP. His songs are my favorite on this.
When you have records as perfect as Chamberlain Waits, OTIP and After the Party in your back catalog its really hard to write a record that matches those levels I enjoyed the first listen. But even my less favorite Menzingers records (RW and HE) have some absolutely 11-out-of-10 bangers with songs like Asshole, In Remission and Anna . Whereas this one feels like a solid record -- maybe even a better overall record than HE -- but even the top songs are just 9/10s
I’m sure someone else already called it out, but I don’t wanna dig. But in Ultraviolet, the melody of the “oohs” are 100% ripped from Sleeping In by postal service.
Still hasn’t grabbed me fully. I really am enjoying the songs that take a chance, but the more standard fare feels a little empty. Lyrically feels more vague…hard to describe.
Only really got into this band with After The Party and I’d say this is the weakest of the three releases I’ve been a fan for. It feels like a more consistent album front to back though? But it’s missing some big bangers for me. i need a long night drive with it
I barely made it through, alas. I don't hear anything threatening to compete with their best material.
