I feel like we've got a mid, fast, and slow tempo song so far and they're all fucking brilliant. This album is gonna rip.
Just learning about this, that’s awesome. It always is like a little treat or a wild ride when I remember to check the music thread like once a month and get caught up on new shit coming out. love the title of the album. Something about vague, open ended sentences or phrases as album titles always get my attention and curiosity (also doesn’t hurt that it’s for The Menzingers).
Thoughts on the various conversations happening here: . Yes 3/3. Stoked . Production sounds amazing. Listening back to HE it really is tough to make out the lyrics sometimes. And a lot of it just sounds a bit lifeless. . Guest In Your House is great. Probably my favourite from the solo record, but I do feel like it drags on a little on repeated listens. . I like the Tom songs, love the Greg songs. Recently ranked my favourite Menzos songs and 2 of the top 25 were Tom. Not his fault (and HE is the closest he's gotten to matching Greg across an entire record). Greg is just such an amazing songwriter.
They are really two very different types of songs most of the time. That being said, Tom songs go off live and break up some of the slower Greg tunes. Interested to see if this will too No Joy as my AOY contender.
Just checking in to say after listening to it about 30 times Come on Heartbreak is in the tier of my favorite Menzingers songs ever, just stunning. I really think what sets them apart from their peers and other bands that have a similar style (other than TGA) is Greg's writing and vocals, our guy is SINGING his ass off in this
Haven't listened to the new song since Jason said it was his favorite on the record. Want to save that one for the full play through. Excited that it is almost here!
While I agree I am also glad with just 3 songs released. I hate hearing to much of an album before release. No doubt we will get another before release day though.
https://readdork.com/features/the-menzingers-upset-cover-october-2023/ I’m excited for this! Haven’t loved any of the singles (outside of cmon heartache), but I love this band know this album will rule.
Great article. Can't believe it has been over 4 years since Hello Exile and finally here for the next one. Does feel a bit quieter here than normal for a Menzingers release. I am a little bummed out at myself for not absolutely loving the first 3 songs. I think they're all good but not GREAT like how I've felt with the pre-released songs for the last 3 albums. Also think the entirely stacked October is playing a role as well.
