Yeah. They get a pass cause this is a quarantine project but I don't really like any of the reworked versions. To me this band got a bit too soft with Hello Exile and this definitely doesn't help matters.
I think Farewell Youth is fine on this. I like the original better. Strangers Forever on here really makes it read like a different song completely. Think that’s the stand out for me. The merch for the livestream is pretty neat but pricey for a plastic mug and some coasters.
I'm just treating America Part 2 as the real opener for this album. Also while I agree Farewell Youth seems like less of a closer, I appreciate that Greg did something different with it. I know it's unlikely right now but I'd be very up for a Burst and Decay-style tour on this record.
Yeah, I'm really into From Exile. It's a perfect compliment to Hello Exile without it being too similar. I enjoy Greg's vocal takes to make things slightly different.
I prefer Hello Exile. They said they were reimagining the songs, but it was really just acoustic versions except for Last to Know, which was the standout for me. Not bad songs by any means, but I definitely prefer the HE versions for all but Last to Know and Farewell Youth. Glad that this exists though, people really seem to be liking it! Strangers Forever is probably tied for the best with Last to Know for me!
Yeah, after having spent some time with this now, I agree. I really like this, I’m glad it exists and I will come back to it regularly, but I definitely prefer Hello Exile to this. Also agree that Last to Know is the standout here.
Poor planning had me not ready by the start time, so watching a 2019 show on YouTube instead. Good, but not the same.
Missing this right now. Can anyone let me know if they play Strain Your Memory or Can’t Stop Drinking?
that was tremendous. as much as I want to complain about the setlist who cares just wanted to rock and thats what we did.
Had no idea they were playing tonight, but I’m listening to HE for the first time in a long time right now. I Can’t Stop Drinking is just too real.
