This album really disappointed me on first listen, but after repeated listens I am now really enjoying it. I don't think I like it as much as On the Impossible Past or After the Party but that's okay, I don't need to. This is a great album in it's own right. My current favorites are Anna, Last to Know, Portland, Strangers Forever, and Strain Your Memory.
I don’t think we can assume someone does. I messaged both Tom and Greg about it on Instagram, and neither message has been seen. I’m also very close with and work with a band around the same size as Menz (maybe a bit bigger) and can say that 95% of social media DMs are never even opened. Don’t want to make excuses for them because that feels like letting them off the hook too easily, and it should be their responsibility to do their due diligence on these sorts of things in 2019, but I do think it’s possible they aren’t aware of the misconduct. Which would make sense after seeing how they handled that other recent situation.
Lead singer def a creep. We are sitting by the merch and my gf who had no idea... "I swear the first thing the singer said to that girl was "are you old enough to be here?!" H"also called the girl "high school " like, said to someone else "you and miss high school over there"
I just don’t know what due diligence could have been if they/someone hasn’t seen the DMs. The tweets went almost nowhere, it doesn’t come up on a google search, no scene publications or public figures talked or are talking about it... discourse about the allegations is, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent outside of this website.
When the Tony stuff went down a few weeks ago, Tom explicitly said his Instagram DMs were open to people who wanted to talk about it. I took that opportunity to message him directly about the CA tweets. He hasn’t responded to this day. So take that for what you will.
I sent him messages from two different accounts also, and neither have been seen, which tells me he never actually looked at his messages, or somehow doesn’t know message requests exist (unlikely). Whatever the case, strange.
Not going to be able to make it to the tour but the omission of Farewell Youth really sucks. That's like my favourite song on the record and I think the first time that the Menz have had a real anthemic closer, would been perfect to close the main set I'd think. Ah well.
“Hello Exile” is the best song on here by a lot for me now. Really bummed they’re not playing it live.
“But we knew it would end yeah we knew it all along it was a future never reconciled. It’s as if letting your shackled heart feel loved was more difficult than total denial.” Probably my favorite lyrics of the album.
Album is so good. Menzingers just hit my musical sweet spot. I interchange a different album with HE in my car -- HE, different album, HE, different album, etc -- and every time I throw HE on I just want to sing along. Hits me better than anything else out right now.
Unbelievable that this album is so good yet I can't see it being any higher than third on my fav Menzingers album list
Doing a little marathon tonight. Man, 22-year-old me did not process the enormity of the weight behind ‘When You Died’. What a fucking song.
Seeing jojo rabbit next door to the show and then should glide in right as tigers jaw takes the stage. That’s how ya do it.
I’ve seen the Menzingers at this venue five times now and it’s never been this packed. Is a lot of this for Tigers Jaw?
Sure seemed like it was last night. Lots of people poured out after TJ finished up. Still plenty for Menzos but did not expect to see that many people bounce before they went on.
