The recurring references to "getting fucked up", drinking "cheap" booze and "raising hell" are deliberate surely. Not exactly the first time these guys have used that technique.
Doesn’t mean I don’t like it. I do. Just like all the other stuff more. I LOVE about half of Elsie. Other albums are more consistently great top to bottom, for me.
you dorks can shit on the the fade in on strawberry mansion but this song makes me want to bash my head through a damn wall
It's the kind of song where I'm gonna find myself arm in arm with some stranger drunk as shit losing my damn voice.
Also all I’ve listened to today is strain your memory if you guys wanna know where I am on that argument...
Last night the bar I was performing at played most of this album on the speakers, mixed in with some old school Alkaline Trio and Against Me for good measure.
I personally don’t believe that, in music or more precisely in an artist’s/group’s discography, either regression or growth are characteristics that necessarily imply the quality of a particular album. Both regression and growth regularly made the output of artists less interesting/good to me personally.
I think I’ve seen them like 6 or 7 times since ATP drops and all I want to hear is Charlie’s Army live ... and they won’t do it at any of the shows I go to.
They played it here and the crowd response was disappointing! It’s probably my favorite sing-along of theirs, which is saying a lot.
Do you guys have a top 5? From all albums, not just this one. I’m curious (and sort of expecting) if all the lists will be totally different.
Asshole Casey After the party The obituaries I can't seem to tell My top 10 would have more ATP and RW lol
Tellin' Lies The Obituaries Lookers Anna Livin' Ain't Easy Besides Anna and America none of the songs off HE have sat with me enough yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them get into the top 5
Casey @MexicanGuitars After the Party Tellin' Lies Lookers/Sun Hotel/Asshole/In Remission/Gates all battling for a 5th spot and I can't choose.
