the song is great and all but at this point its becoming a distraction. listen to the new defeater record. listen to the new la dispute record. its becoming a recurring thing and its annoying the hell out of me. at first i could get past it but its happening on every single record he touches.
I haven't listened to the new song yet, but I'm sure the band didn't want the record to sound the exact same as ATP. I feel like choices like reverb on the voice or really any effect is ultimately the artists call. In my experience in the studio it had always been the artist to say that's what they want.
you could throw in the new mwY record as well. I know people love that album but the vocals are really far back on it.
Man, I was really trying to hold out listening to anything till release day. Caved today, and that new song is great. That chorus is going to be a lot of fun live.
Yeah love the song but production holds it back. Super hard to distinguish lyrics without headphones which is annoying.
A few more listens in and the vocal production doesn't bother me anymore. Still wish it was a more traditional big rock sound for them but I expect this to be aoty anyway.
Yeah I listened on 3 sets of speakers and each time I enjoyed the song more/thought about the production less
Yeah I agree this song just isn't mixed right for certain audio setups. Listened on my crappy headphones at work and the vocals definitely got lost behind the music a bit, but listening on my better headphones at home it cuts through a lot better.
Just had my first listen. I see nothing wrong with the vocal mix. I was able to make out everything. I'm also listening on a nice pair of headphones, so that might factor into that.
listening this morning it made me think of the way a menzingers song sounds when you play it on a jukebox at the bar which seems on brand also i played thick as thieves on a jukebox at the bar last night
