I can’t stand Ava House

I recently decided to work out my favourite albums ever and OTIP was top 10 so I'm particularly sensitive

 

Casey is the best song on OTIP, and there’s some really good fucking songs on that record

 

Oh and obviously Obituaries

 

I would rank AVA House towards the bottom half of my non existent OTIP rankings ... however I still like the song.

 

I think freedom bridge is underrated

 

Mexican Guitars for me. The way it builds to the outro. That was the song that got me into them.

 

My top 5 from each of the last three records, because I’m that bored right now:

OTIP: Casey, Gates, Burn After Writing, Mexican Guitars, I Can’t Seem to Tell

RW: Asshole, Rodent, In Remission, Transient Love, When You Died

ATP: Lookers, After the Party, Bad Catholics, Tellin’ Lies, House on Fire

Special shot out to No Penance, a song so good, I actually like it more than half of ^ these

 

No particular order but my top 5 for OTIP would be Burn After Writing, Gates, Sculptors and Vandals, Casey, and Mexican Guitars

 

Casey is their best song.

 

Casey is great. Mexican Guitars is the best song on that album.

 

Only songs I don’t love on OTIP are Ava and Freedom Bridge and I still think they’re good songs

 

I get stupid hype when I get to the bridge of Casey. No matter what I’m doing I’m liable to yell out the “we could live” line

 

Gates is probably the best song on the record not called burn after writing. Gotta have my favorite lyrics Greg’s ever written

 

I think Casey is the quintessential Menzingers song but I think Gates is my favorite on the record

 

Okay wait maybe Gates is the best song idk.

I’ll ageee with this. It’s my favorite but this is a solid statement

 

The one from a few years ago with The Pogues and Whiskey in the Jar covers? I enjoyed that myself, but I’ll be damned if their covers are my favorite songs haha. Good shoutout though!

 

I love each of their last four albums and still come back to them all of the time, but OTIP and ATP are significantly ahead of CW and RW. Part of that is personal because they're both connected to certain times in my life. But they also are just stacked front to back with top tier songs.
