Ah yes, love to talk shit about artists’ work by directly quote tweeting them about it. With love though! (Also what a terrible take, woof)
It sure does but I believe we were talking about the preceding track, which references teeth falling out, known as Bad Things, which is categorically their worst song.
Also: OTIP (in serious contention for album of the decade) ATP CW RW And I'd give Rented World like an 8-8.5.
same for me but I'd swap the top two and agree RW still v strong despite being the weakest of those four
I still listen to ATP a lot in the car. I adore it. It was my starting point with the band too. I'm very exited for this new album. Anna is great.
Also also: The '59 Sound Handwritten Ameri My wife agrees. I just have too much attached to OTIP. It will always be the one. Definitive ranking of every song from each just because surely everyone will agree: 1. Gates 2. After the Party 3. Mexican Guitars 4. Midwestern States 5. Lookers 6. Your Wild Years 7. Casey 8. The Obituaries 9. Good Things 10. Black Mass 11. Burn After Writing 12. I Can't Seem to Tell 13. Sculptors and Vandals 14. Bad Catholics 15. Sun Hotel 16. Tellin Lies 17. Nice Things 18. Thick as Thieves 19. Freedom Bridge 20. Living Ain't Easy 21. On the Impossible Past 22. Ava House 23. Boy Blue 24. Charlie's Army 25. The Bars 26. House on Fire
Yeah, I get it! On the Impossible Past is great too. That album didn't click with me when it came out, but it's grown on me over the years. After the Party was their first album that I was all-in on right away, so that's the big one for me. But I'll entertain an argument that "Gates" or "Casey" is their best song.
What is difficult for me is that I believe the 59' Sound, Handwritten, OTIP, and ATP are all probably my top 4 favorite albums of all time. Well, ATP may eventually get there it's only been like 2.5 years. I just love these two bands so much.
I do agree with Tim that a parallel can be drawn between the two careers, but we differ in our opinions of the albums themselves haha
OTIP is what got me into the Menzingers so that will always hold a special place in my heart, but ATP is fucking great. These days it's getting harder and harder to find records where you don't have to skip tracks and with those two records I can front-to-back them easily.
Also FYI: not sure if all venues are participating but there is a presale in about 15 minutes for the fall tour and the code for my venue is: AMPLIFY
As a late comer to Menzingers (started listening with After the Party) I feel like they are the rare band that has actually gotten better with each successive album
Ohhhh forgot about Shugas! I’ve only been once - I bought integrity blues there. They had a ton, I just don’t live in wicker any more otherwise I would go more for sure
