My hopes for the record, ranked: 4. It is their best album yet 3. It is the best album of the decade 2. Is the best album of all time 1. They headline an Australian tour
Ugh I really hate the venue they're playing in London. Same venue as last time, the sound is just so bad
10000% This is a tremendous song - I still get the same feeling I got the first time I listened to Menzingers when I hear "I've been awake for hours"
For some reason I forgot After The Party isn’t the closer on that album and was about to get heated that it wasn’t getting any love lol. Freedom Bridge is the one for me.
That might be my one critique for that album. I think ATP fits as a closer so well. I don't really know where Livin' Ain't Easy would be on that tracklisting, but ATP feels like a closer to me.
Living ain't easy is good and fits as a closer. After the party is the period of a drinking session where it's 5am and you have no idea what's going on, living ain't easy is the hour when you wake up the next day with a fat hangover and a bleak feeling of mortality Also chamberlain waits is #1
I love me some Tom songs. Maybe there’s a little bias there because my intro to the band was a live video of Obituaries where although a Greg song showed Tom having the time of his life up there. I’ve been partial to him since and I thought ATP had his best songs yet. Thick as Thieves and Boy Blue are my favorites on the entire album outside of the title track. Chamberlain is easily the best closer.
I don’t mind living ain’t easy as a closer but like after the party as an option too. I just think after one of their best songs Living ain’t easy just ends up as an afterthought.
as we try to break free with all our miiiightttt After the Party is the best song on the record but i don't think it works as a closer
Livin Ain't Easy is my favorite closer by a mile. "In vibrant hues and subtle brush strokes of memory, the life I've painted I have sold for a quick twenty." Great thesis statement on living in America.
Glad to see some Livin Ain’t Easy love. Great song and great closer. It conveys such a strong sense of melancholy and feels like a comedown after the rush of ATP.
I might be late to this, but as far as Greg's songs go, I like them a little better from a sonic landscape type of way (love old Springsteen so that's a bias) but Tom can write a fucking pop punk banger. All I'll say is I'm happy that I don't have to choose between them.
Not coming at you because this isn't your fault, you didn't know, but now that multiple people have surely brought up the Culture Abuse allegations to the band via various channels (because I 100% sure they didn't know either) it's situations exactly like this that are why they need to address it/drop them from the tour.
This one might be helpful: Them stealing from a gas station seems like nothing to me but the sexual abuse and multiple reports of it are alarming.
