I think this may be the best the band has sounded on record

Not the best chorus they've ever had or anything but it rocks and the guitars are great and I dig the production

 

Least favorite first single they’ve had. Feel like the album as a whole may be a good fall vibe.

 

Song is great glad they moved away from Yip. Can’t wait for the tour love all those bands

This new one has grown on me a ton in the last day, it rules. I like it way more than Anna which is one of my least fav songs on hello exile (I absolutely adore the from exile version of Anna though)

 

Same with me. Wasn’t really a fan on the first few listens but now I love it

 

Song is cool but I'm a bit underwhelmed. Glad to hear Greg's vocals more forward in the mix, but it just didn't hit me like Anna or Lookers did for a first single.

 

I like the song. But it could easily be something from Greg's solo album.

Lookers is one of the best lead singles in the last 10 years so I’m expecting them to top that haha

 

How? It’s got very loud guitars and gang vocals and Greg adding some more grit back into his voice, not sure how it sounds like his solo album at all. If anything it sounds like Rented World-ish to me

 

I think it's on par with Anna, not as good as America I Love You (which I adore)

 

Echoing the thoughts on how nice it is to have a new Menzies song that doesn't sound like it was recorded in a submarine

 

The lead singles from the last 3 albums were Anna, Lookers, and In Remission (I think - my recollection for RW was Asshole but Google says I’m wrong). This song doesn’t feel on par with those, but those songs are tough to top. I still like the chorus and think this will be a grower, something with the vocal melody in the verses felt off on first listen.

 

It was In Remission and it's funny looking back on it, I really didn't like it coming off of On the impossible past, but have grown to love it over the years. Lookers will never be topped, it's a perfect song.

 

Definitely on par with Anna. Great song.

 

I'd echo that having expectations of a lead single topping Lookers is unrealistic that song is gold

 

I recommend put this on repeat.That riff just gets better and better each time.And that production on guitars is just golden.Instant classic for me.

 

Wax Bodega is one of the Wonder Years guys. Zack runs (or ran) Bad Timing Records with one of the AP writers. Thomas Nassiff maybe? I forget.

 

It would be hard for ANY band to write a song, let alone a lead off song, better than Lookers. Lyrics, production, how good it is on a GREAT album, how it goes off live. It checks and SMASHES every box.

Top 10 song of all time for me.
