*dril voice* America kills millions of people every year, but it also gave us the Menzingers, so it's impossible to say whether it's bad or not
Hello Exile is Tom's best work. I'd say it's the first record where Tom's songs are as strong as Greg's since Chamberlain.
Yea not gonna lie I haven’t listened to anything from before OTIP. Though there was a decent amount that knew it so I wa happy for them
Yeah, Chamberlain Waits and Broadway Calls self titled both started my love of Orgcore as a college kid. Chamberlain is definitely overlooked because of how great OTIP is.
It's actually super consistent. Only a little rougher than their later work. A few more screams. But overall definitely not a rough sounding or under-developed album. A real achievement in my eyes. Was PunkNews album of the year if I recall correctly.
Chamberlain Waits is a fantastic album. Less of the nostalgic, miss my childhood vibe of their later stuff but every bit as solid
For some reason I never got OTIP on vinyl and missed the last pressing of the demos. Excited to get both here.
$40 feels a bit high for me at the moment, but I'll give it a pickup down the line maybe if it sticks around.
I believe Urban Outfitters has their variant for $34 and the indie retailers variant goes for $32, if that helps.
There are some real gems in that set of demos if you haven't heard them yet, especially the "Sun Hotel" demo that really leans into the "Chelsea Hotel #2" melody.
Damn, Hello Exile still holds such a special place in my heart. I return to it the most and I have such an emotional connection to it. Probably my favorite Menzingers album today.
https://www.kerrang.com/the-menzingers-a-decade-under-the-influence-of-on-the-impossible-past/ Great writeup from Kerrang on 10 years of OTIP They were so good in London last night - can die happy now I've seen Casey; setlist was about 50/50 Greg/Tom, and they reckon it was their biggest headline crowd to date!
