Everything since OTIP has either been great or incredible.

 

OTIP is great. Hello Exile is boring trash. ATP is mostly really good, same with Rented World. Chamberlain Waits is god-tier. Greg's new solo album is also really good.

 

That second assessment is certainly a take

 

Yeah, I don't get the hate for Hello Exile. I really liked that record. If I had to pick a weak album from this band, I kind of think the back half of Rented World has a few clunkers, but pretty much everything this band does is gold. Can't wait for Gregs solo album to come in the mail.

 

Hello Exile being called trash is the dumbest take I’ve ever seen on this website and I frequent the blink thread.

 

have seen many many takes more dumb than that here. maybe an incalculable amount.

 

i really like basically everything theyve done, all the way back from ALITAI. CW is still my favorite but none of their records up to the present are less then an 8 no matter how much their sound changes. theyre stupid consistent. i guess a few long time fans dont like the changes but they definitely deserve the commercial success theyve gotten out of it. honestly even if i didnt like HE i couldnt even be mad.

 

Exiles biggest issue is production, not songwriting. It’s probably some of their strongest. It’s been beaten to death though.

 

He's not wrong about Chamberlain Waits though

 

It’s not that dumb of a take. The record just isn’t that great. Solid 6/10.

 

It’s way too early for this. Everyone have some coffee and come back refreshed.

My favorite is Rented World. Everything after that doesn’t do much for me.

Takes galore in here!

I think Rented World is their weakest personally...The highs are really high on that one though. But I dislike most of the Tom tracks (hate saying that because the Greg vs Tom thing is done to death, but it's the truth for RW) and the album in general lacks some of the nuance that made OTIP so special.

I don't really get hating Hello Exile but loving the Greg solo album, because the weakest part of Exile is the production on the vocals and that's pretty similar on Greg's album.

 

I still like this album.

 

Hello Exile rules. Title track and Strain Your Memory are in my top 5 menzingers songs.

 

This is where I'm at. I wish the band all the best but I just find that both the Yip production and general songwriting really don't work for me on ATP and HE. There was something raw pre-ATP I just don't hear anymore and it was the real draw for me. Hard to put into words. But I'm happy to see the band doing well.

I can’t believe all this Hello Exile and even After the Party slander!

I consider OTIP and ATP to be a 1A and 1B of Menzingers records. I also like Hello Exile more than Rented World. Most importantly, this is one of the few bands that can’t miss in my eyes. Never stop making music!

 

ATP > Abbey Road

 

I really enjoy and regularly listen to everything from Chamberlain to Greg’s new solo album, so lucky me then.

Anna, Strangers Forever, Strain Your Memory, Portland. All awesome songs. Only dud for me is Strawberry Mansion.

 

Hold on Dodge also rips. An entire album of those songs would maybe have topped Chamberlain
