Wait. Missed the October show as it was on my brothers wedding. This show is the night before my other brother’s wedding LOL
They released a Hello Exile B-Side on their Patreon today they also changed the tiers of it and only have a $5 option now
Bad Actors, it's a Tom song I don't think it really would have fit on Hello Exile, Kind of sounds like a Rented World era Tom song maybe like My Friend Kyle or Cemetery's Garden but not exactly
Definitely a more straight forward Tom song in a good way. Chorus is good. Agree it probably didn’t fit on the record, but I really enjoyed it.
Hope they wide release it at some point on like bandcamp. I could use new music by them (anticipating Greg’s solo record).
Yeah, it's a really good song, strong chorus, but it's more in line with the songs between ATP and HE than the stuff on HE itself.
from an interview with Greg (link found on his Twitter) Interview: Don’t Go Throwing Roses on Gregor Barnett’s Grave - I have to ask. Are you working on a new Menzingers album? Yeah, we are in the very, very early phases of writing an album. We’re looking to record it in 2022, but it’s been crazy because we haven’t had any time off from touring to focus. But now, this winter, we’re really going to dive into it. We’ve been bouncing ideas of each other and compiling stuff and are in the very early phase of putting an album together. It’s awesome, and it’s really exciting, and it’s my favorite part of the band getting together to write music. I’m really looking forward to it.
Also, given the opportunity Greg would do another solo record, but The Menzingers is his top priority. It’s also cool to hear him speak about how good of friends the guys all are, living close together, hanging out and supporting each other. That’s all from the interview and he mentions inspiration from his solo record.
Probably the wrong thread for this, but On the Impossible Past turns 10 years old this year. Plan accordingly.
I actually think the second song is very boring. I I quite liked the first one. I hope that the second single makes more sense to me in the context of the rest of the record! I'm sure it will grow on me in that context. I am pretty excited to hear the rest.
First two songs have the theme of death/loss and fit Greg’s description of the record. Although I like Roses more, Dead Body is kind of a haunting realistic story about a boy being stunned by the loss of neighbour. It’s someone he’s friendly with and does take for, but nothing as intimate as losing a family member or friend. It makes the song a little eerily relatable.
I like Dead Body, it's a great piece of storytelling through song, but I don't want to listen to it on repeat like I did Roses when it came out, for what I assume are fairly obvious reasons.
