i am here as well! Crowd for the Nil has made me nervous for what type of people are here lol

 

I guess my issue with the songs they are playing off Exile is they aren’t playing the best ones. Strain Your Memory should obviously be a staple I think

 

Re-listened to this record in preparation of seeing them last week. It was better than I remembered. A lot of it still feels like Menzingers on autopilot, but it’s not quite as flat and lifeless like I first thought.

HE is my favorite from them. Then to top it all off they release an acoustic version.

This is definitely a band I feel like I’ve been able to grow with.

 

yea, I would much prefer the title track , high school friend , strain your memory , or farewell youth over A few songs in the set.

anyway , great show haha

 

I guess it's because gigs are only just starting up so they want to bring all the 'hits'. I didn't adore Hello Exile like ATP or OTIP but there's also not a dud on it for me, apart from perhaps Strawberry Mansion

 

What was the issue with the crowd?

 

Didn’t seem too bad to me, just the usual pushy section in the center.

also I just can’t get over how fun In Remission is live. Such a perfect closer, just a blast.

 

Just some weirdos / super drunk people lol two guys were hugging eachother and rolling on the ground

And yeah it's literally perfect. I can't believe they have the audacity to not play it on occassion

 

So stoked for this show tonight, it's all I can think about right now. It's been such a long time since I've seen them

As someone going to the RVA show on the 10/29, I've listened to Menzos and Worriers pretty extensively, but never The Nil. Where should I start with them?

It'll be my 4th(?) Menzingers show.

Tonight is my 5th Menzingers show. At the same venue I saw them in last time. It's in an old church and I really want them to play Black Mass. It'd fit so well.

 

Don’t hold your breath for Black Mass. Dig that song too, but no way that’s getting played.

 

I know :/ just want to hear it in that venue

 

Saw them Friday in MPLS and they brought it. Set was nearly perfect. Just throw out "Last To Know" (that song is a bummer for me) and plug in "Strain Your Memory" and it would have been ideal.

 

Black Mass and Livin Aint Easy I have never seen but I don't think they've ever played the latter. And only song from Exile I haven't seen is Farewell Youth. I have a farewell youth tattoo that I will try to use to ploy them to play it eventually though lol

 

Seeing them tonight. This will be my first time seeing them. Super stoked.

 

They actually def did play Livin’ Ain’t Easy at a MA show. My brother went and said after they played it they said something along the lines of “yeah prob be doing that one again” haha. I tried finding it on Setlist.FM but couldn’t find the set. It was legit one of the only Menzingers shows I wasn’t at in MA

 

Also just looking through setlist.fm, it feels wrong that Farewell Youth is played so infrequently compared to the other HE songs. I always thought Farewell Youth would be a set staple once I heard it.

 

Dirty Nil would've stolen the show for any other show they were opening, but the Menzis are just so good
