Lol I mean Menz are a top 5 band for me but I cannot deny that TaT is not only the worst Tom song in their discography, but also flows terribly on ATP and their live sets, no matter where placed.
Worst time song for me is probably Hearts Unknown? Idk, I always lose it in the back half of Rented World
I'll play. I don't like Portland very much. In fact, I don't really like any of the Tom songs on HE (maybe one of the reasons I don't like the album as much as the others).
I don't really think Tom has missed since Rented World, b-sides included. House On Fire would be my least fav of his on After the Party, but I still like it
I feel like most Tom songs on Rented World & ATP are weaker than Greg’s RW & ATP songs. And because of this I think lesser of Tom’s songs because I’m unfairly comparing them both and Greg, in my opinion, is exceptional at what he does. So it’s almost unfair to Tom when I compare them both side by side. However, Tom’s three songs on HE fucking rule & I also love Tom’s writing, his songs, and this band.
I listened to Hello Exile again this week because of this thread. It's a great record and better than I remember it, but I still prefer ATP and OTIP.
I’m from Boston so I have the spoiled pleasure of seeing them 2-3 times a year, but we always joke how they NEVER play Charlie’s Army. And of course they open with it haha

The only problem with After The Party for me is that I honestly think all of the b-sides are good enough to be on the album whilst at the same time I don't think any of the songs on the album are weak enough to cut... Thick As Thieves included. I had no idea up until just now catching up on this thread that any Menzingers fans at all thought of that song as a weaker track. I don't think I fully appreciate Hello Exile yet. I have no major qualms with the album (like I hear the weird vocal effect thing but it's only a negative in few places) and I don't think there are any bad songs on it, but I don't find myself going back to it all that much whereas I feel like I listened to ATP relentlessly.
