The album is also out next week lol, I think I can handle waiting a few days without hearing the released song
I know I personally have a hard time initially when an album is released and it’s front loaded with singles. I have to like force myself to listen to all of it.
The song is going to be released 2-3 days before the album drops. I don’t get why it’s that big of a deal. This album has snuck up on me. Decently excited based off of what’s been released so far.
I suppose we’ve already stepped into the streaming algorithm age where openers and closers just aren’t as vital to the album listening experience that they once were. I’m still listening to the same shit from high school where openers and closers were make or break. guess I’m just still living in the past.
pretty fair complaint to not want the last bit of music you hear on the album spoiled. definitely indicative of our current priorities as music listeners that this gets push back though, which i think is a little sad but then i remember this is a thread for a band whose fan experience is the definition of calibrating down to low expectations
I think as always it comes down to if you don’t want something to be spoiled or you want a certain experience, simply don’t listen to it until it’s ready for you
I still listen to full albums, unless I'm shuffling an artists entire discography. I can understand not wanting to spoil a closer and all that, but I'll never complain about getting a new song from a favorite band.
but it's just one song from an album, what's the difference in hearing the 4th track or the closer before the album comes out? truly has never made sense to me even before streaming.
If you've ever been a "need to hear in the context of the album" defender i dont think you can also be a critic of why people wouldn't want to hear a closer before an album release
Wasn't directed at you in particular I'm just saying thats a common sentiment/thought I see here which makes me not at all surprised to hear people say they wouldn't want to hear a closer before the album
