and if they say no you have to do what the band pleases. i have a feeling while yip gets producer credits hes really acting more as engineer and just trying to get the best performances out of the band that he can while letting them steer the ship. idk if this was the case on the b&c record but on a lot of yip records you'll see the band given a co production credit.
that may be true but it's the producers job to sculpt the sounds and tones of the album and letting it sound like that regardless of what the band wants is just poor judgement. See any other band that use similar guitar tones (90's grunge/stoner metal) without it sounding like complete shit.
well i also dont think the b&c album sounds like complete shit. its not great but its not horrible. but idk im into a lot of stoner/sludge metal and tons of those bands are muddy as fuck but it fits the sound so its not bad
This is really good. Feels like the more melodic side of OTIP. Already want to sing the chorus at the top of my lungs.
My biggest problem with the B&C record is the compression on the drums, he just made them so loud there is barely any dynamic range on them and drums have pretty much the biggest dynamic range and I want to hear that. That's where I think other records with similar tones outshine it.
I love this song. This might have me even more excited for this album than "In Remission" did for Rented World.
i can definitely see that complaint, i usually see people talking about the guitars on that record but the drums are definitely not as wide and open as they should be
yeah it's the same problem I had with the last All Get Out EP. you don't need to sound as big as possible in every second, need some contrast! just makes me want to turn it off and listen to In Utero's drums.
What would you call that gas light anthem sound? It's kind of an old school rock sound and I know there is a simple term for it and I can't put my finger on it.
It's like they produced the vocals like the Impossible Past and the guitars like Rented World. As in, I can't hear shit.
LOOKERS IS PERFECT.... That song just floored me on first listen. That Intro, I had goosebumps all up my body and my eyes swelled I kid you not WOW
What is everyone's favorite menzingers record? For me (I'm a new fan so take with a grain of salt) but it's on the impossible past, that record just hits me with every song.
Go look at the top 15 albums of the decade thread and see how many posts have "On The Impossible Past"... There are a lot (mine included, #3 only behind the Hotelier)
On The Impossible Past but I think Rented World has their 2-3 best songs if that makes sense. "In Remission"/"Transient Love"/"Rodent"
