I will never get why people dislike Tom's songs, Burn After Writing and Sculptors and Vandals are two of this band's best.
Once the record has been around for a bit I can totally see The Bars being a huge singalong live. It's like an Irish drinking song.
they also happen to be the only tom songs that are on the same level as greg's (imo ofc), and greg sings like half of burn anyway e: actually i take the first part of this back. sculptors is a good song but there are several that are better on otip
I've only really liked Greg songs apparently then lol. I have always had a hard time telling which singer is which, but clearly I prefer Greg's writing style.
Imo they both really stepped it up in this album, but I'll still take Greg over Tom any day of the week
Dancing around the kitchen with my girlfriend to this album last night, particularly Charlie's Army, was pretty awesome.
Chamberlain Waits still has the best Tom songs imo but ATP is already second in terms of their parity w/ Greg songs.
So glad someone actually did this! Whether or not you saw my post earlier does not matter to me. I still feel like I played a part.
Sooo cool! Love this band, love this thread. Currently spinning their catalog in order on my drive to Chicago. You forget how well the old songs hold up sometimes.
I'm in love with all but 3 songs and I'm sure I will come around to them. Can't stop wanting to listen.
I think I'm on board with the title track now, but I still don't like Thick as Thieves much. That's the only song I don't love at this point. Haven't had an album dominate my listening this much in years.
Funny how this band works. My friend that checked out the album and band for the first time only loved Thick As Thieves at first. He's coming around to the rest now.
Tom is awesome, Greg is awesome, and there's a damn good chance their best work is still ahead of them.
