Having Hoppus and Rollingstone in their corner on day one can't be a bad thing. Hopefully the momentum keeps going.
Nostalgic white men is my favorite brand of rock music. Ironically, it is one of my least favorite forms of political ideology.
"This girl I know, yeah, she's trying to get high" from House on Fire is another reference to older lyrics ("Gates")
I mean, can't be sure any of these were conscious references, but it made me think of Ava House("Ava, are you trying to get high?").
Also I just momentarily got gates and Ava mixed up. Oops Edit: actually no I was also think of nothing feels good anymore again ("a couple kids trying to get high. I make my way outside.")
The "party" references here are so well done. Initially thought "After The Party" was kind of a weird title but after spending the week with the album and picking up on the references to that theme in Midwestern States and Charlie's Army, I really love it.
This is by far my favorite album of theirs. Have been listening on repeat and still can't choose a favorite track.
I'm not sure there are any highs, for me, that hit quite like the highs on the past two albums, but there are songs I skip over on the last two ("Freedom Bridge", "Transient Love"), whereas this is great all the way through
I just cannot get enough of how calm yet cathartic it is "All I ever wanted was to make things right, over and over in my head I've tried"
That's accurate as hell. I've been wracking my brain to figure out what that "go to sleep in the strangest places" line reminded me of
I've decided that I will be picking up the new record and a 6 pack and then going to listen to their discography chronologically on my turntable tonight after work. Very good Friday night ahead
