Yeah. Tom stepped up his game on this album. The Bars is already a top 5 all-time Menz song for me.

 

It's one of the best songs they've written, easily.

 

I've got a few I can point you to ...

 

His drum sound is easily the worst part of the album. I give the band credit for writing good songs and Yip gets some credit for getting out of the way.

 

The NY Times are just presenting 'alternative facts' about the Menzingers. They are a shaggy punk band from Scranton, PA. That for more than a decade has been snotty, but not wistful, driven and not much for the rearview mirror. Period.

 

Anyway, House On Fire has been in my head all morning and I'm cool with it.

 

The funny thing is even the description scruffy doesn't really fit. They're all pretty neatly kempt. The only fact that is true in there is that they're originally from Scranton

 

I think scruffy might refer to their 'grit' style of punk sometimes, but I could be wrong there.

 

I meant their use of shaggy, which I think refers more to physical appearance than music, but whatever. It's still not a well written article for about 10 different reasons

 

I actually thought the drums sounded alright, but then drum production is probably the thing I'm least knowledgeable on.

 

Ill be at tonight's in-store, curious how much the set differs. Will report back. Hoping to see Sun Hotel 2 again.

 

Drums sound great on this, really disagree with that criticism

 

My record store has it in but they don't have the indie exclusive one yet so I'm probably gonna wait or check another one tomorrow

 

Tonight's acoustic set is on Looney Tunes FB Live starting at 7

 

Allowed myself to watch that in acoustic session in prep for the album to drop tomorrow. The Bars was an instant standout

 

Really enjoyed the acoustic set tonight! I was holding off to get my vinyl tonight to listen to the album but I still really enjoyed the new songs they played. The Bars was definitely my favorite new one they played.

I just put the record on finally and it's blowing me away so far. Every song I've heard so far is so damn good.

Edit: I finished the album, its incredible.

 

Didnt know Looney Tunes broadcast it, that's awesome. I had a blast there tonight. The Bars and House on Fire were my highlights.

Greg is likely my favorite lyricist in rock music. Just outdoes himself with every release. Perfect balance of punk charm and poetic skill.

 

Will Toledo may be the best.

 

their styles are so different, i can't even compare

i don't like the opener on this one. mostly because the chorus is so similar to a song that just came out recently that i like a lot

 

there are some good songs on here but this direction is totally not my thing. ah well

 

Whoever made the Letterbomb comparison to one of the songs on here, I totally agree.

 

Well at least we have one good review to count on. I mean, at least we know you've heard the damn band lmao
