Idk if I can pick a favorite, like you said, the parity on this album is incredible. Alternatively, I used to dislike Bottled Wind because they played it on every tour, but now I recognize it might be the best fast song on the album lol.
Holy shit this is 3/3. And not 3/3 good songs, but 3/3 absolutely incredible songs. This is going to be record of the year easily.
Also I missed the top ten thing so: 1) Casey 2) Gates 3) Lookers 4) Mexican Guitars 5) Good Things 6) In Remission 7) Obituaries 8) I Was Born 9) Rodent 10) Burn After Writing
See that record was an imidiate hit for me. As soon as I heard the chorus on Blood Balloon I was hooked. Dude, you're not lying. They're really knocking it out of the park. This is gonna be a solid record top to bottom.
I kinda feel like the vibe of this record is almost going to be the spiritual response to OTIP. Like they're exploring all those themes still but with different eyes because years have passed and they've gotten older.
It seems like some of the "bigger" music media outlets are giving this the hype it deserves. A couple of writers for Uproxx were tweeting their love for ATP yesterday and I'm seeing lots of good reaction to the new single today too.
I guess I would say Ava House is the weak link on OTIP but a weak song on an album like that is the equivalent of a highlight on a lot of other albums IMO.
i don't really fuck with a lesson in the abuse of information technology or whatever it's called but it's been years since i last listened to it
setlist.fm confirms your suspicions, but they've played songs from it live as recently as 2015 so doesn't look like it's been disowned or anything. To be fair, they've got three (soon four) other albums of significantly stronger material and some really good bsides as well so i don't blame them
Full disclosure about my previous post. I don't recall ever actually listening to that. If I did it was when I first started listening to the band and I can't remember any thing about it. I should listen to it though, by now I trust this band enough that I imagine at the very least it'll be interesting to see the growth of the band if its not something that I would come back to again and again in the future.
this is fair, i hardly remember it but all the other albums had immediate impact on me so i just kind of conclude i don't like it as much. but yeah, i'm always down for changing my mind so a relisten is in the future
