Lol "I'm glad I'm seeing no amazing things instead of one amazing thing" Someone's trynna cope over here ;)
Listened to Arms Aloft thanks to whoever recommended them in this thread. I dig it already, the dudes voice takes a bit of getting used to but it's unique and really cool.
Yeah, the vocals at first for me were like "I think I like this but it needs time". Once it clicks though you realize how special the album is. Glad you liked it.
Apologies I Have None and Arms Aloft = Problem Daughter is another rec similar to 'Zingers. Very similar to Flatliners too.
Anyone looking for a rec like the Menzingers, the vocals for this band Spill remind me of them: Album - Spill - Top Ten (December 16, 2016)
ehhhh they're different, spill leans a little more grungy powerpop, their old band placeholder was dope too, grungey pop punk
Oh, yeah, they're rather different musically. Spill doesn't have that Americana punk sound – grungy power pop is a good description, like blue album-era Weezer. But his vocals remind me of one of the guys from the Menzingers, though I'm not a big enough fan to know who is who.
Love pretty much everything about this band. Their lyrics are such an honest look into being just a mid-tier young adult male who likes girls and beer and who struggles with heartbreak. OTIP is such an important album to me, and every time I listen to it, I'm thrown back to winter of 2013, when I had it on repeat for months. 'Lookers' is a jam, and I just booked tickets to their Melbourne Feb show next year. Fuck yeah!
Bad Catholics really grew on me over the weekend. I had to drive 2 hours and I just put all their songs on shuffle. The verses on that song are so fucking catchy. Lookers is better in my opinion, but this record is gonna fucking rule and I can't wait.
As much as I love both songs released I hope this record has some songs with meaty riffs on them like RW
Lookers is one of their best songs in my opinion, so it'll be tough to compare the rest of the album to just that song. Going to be a long three months of waiting.
I agree that it will be tough to beat Lookers, but knowing these guys, I don't think they released their best song on the record. I think we'll have to wait until Feb to hear the best.
I would argue In Remission is easily the best song on RW. As far as "not releasing the best as a single" goes.
Where Your Heartache Exists, Transient Love and Asshole are all incredible songs, find it hard to pick a best song on that record personally
