"I'm at the party in a cloud of nicotine, exhaled by drunk twenty somethings, there's a couple arguing in the bathroom, there's a couple kids just trying to get high,"
If I recall correctly, when the Menz played a show in Scranton last summer they debuted Bad Catholics and I believe Thick as Thieves, but said that Bad Catholics wasn't going to be on the album. Wonder what changed? Edit: Yep this is correct
@EngineDown yeah, first thing that came to my mind as soon as i hit play was "we're dying on the inside, dying on the inside"
In one of their interviews during the Bayside tour they decided they may want to add Bad Catholics to the record rather than save it for a split. My guess is that when they found out how long their record would be delayed by the vinyl plant, they tabled the split idea so that the new album can have full attention. At that point it makes sense to add the song to the record.
There were interviews where the band talked about how the response to the song was strong enough that they were reconsidering including it rather than just putting it on a split. Glad it made it to the album.
I hear ya! If I can't buy an album from a local store, at a show, or through Amazon, it's hard to financially justify vinyl purchases anymore (to Canada). That said, it's hardly slowed my collecting, but it's definitely cut back how many I'm pre-ordering.
I love this song way more than "Lookers", this is tiiiiight. I know it's just a YouTube stream but the guitar tones sound awesome on this track
Fuck yes, finally! I am so excited for this. Basically played "Bad Catholics" the whole commute to work.
I'm a smoker and I'm not even sure that I actually like cigarettes haha. Also, pre-ordered. Thank you Epitaph & The Menzingers for having reasonable shipping to the UK, rather than some bands/labels which charge almost as much as the bundle for shipping.
the new song reminded me of Single Mothers in lyrical theme, but I think that's cause I think Single Mothers / their frontperson has a song called Bad Catholics also so shrug Song is great, can't wait for this!
Yes it's definitely a callback to Nothing Feels Good Anymore "I'm at the party in a cloud of nicotine" vs. "In a cloud full of nicotine, in a teenage memory." I think I remember mentioning that in the first thread for Lookers
Bad Catholics is very good. I still prefer Lookers, but I this album is going to be awesome. February will be a good month.
Lookers > Bad Catholics, but both are pretty good considering the last album they released was absolutely and unequivocally not for me. Also, this record's artwork is fantastic.
