I can't help but feel that it's not their doing if the release date is in 2017. I don't think they would intentionally announce the completion of recording of the record like 10 months before releasing the record. I don't know though.
Maybe for some but I find waits that long absolutely excruciating. I almost died waiting for Hotelier
jeez guys lol you can wait for albums always i have waited years for records just let them come it's more satisfying and less anxiety inducing that way
the wrens said their album was done two years ago chromatics said their album would be out valentines day 2015
With all that's coming come this year I'd be fine if it's pushed back to early 2017 but that's just me
Let me wallow in my hype cradle like the big excited baby I am It just makes that first listen of the record so sweet to my ears after getting worked up about it for so long anyway and it's not every record tbf, only the bands I have emotional attachments to
I made comments previously about thinking there may be something going on with this album. When they first played Thick As Thieves and the other new song (not Lookers) and the Youtube videos were a news post, Greg said the other song would be on a split; however, in a interview or something they have since said that it may be on the record now. I think there are some details still being sorted out in terms of the album itself. I also could see there being delays for getting their marketing right since this is an important release if they want to go for a bigger audience. They have already taken their most time off for this album and worked hard on it. They may as well take the extra time and have everything else in order.
I'm fine with this coming early next year when we still have so much to look forward to in a similar vein this fall. Against Me, JEW, Brand New, etc still on the horizon for 2016.
That would make sense and put me at ease a bit better I think, hah. If there's still stuff to sort out about the album I'd rather they take the time and get it all sorted than rush it out there.
It's not a big deal if it gets pushed back, especially if it's because the band has a specific vision for the release. I'd just be a little disappointed because up until today I thought we were getting it within a month or two.
Lol I mean yes, it sucks we don't get to hear it as soon as we had anticipated, but dang y'all - lets chill and have comfort in knowing we're getting a record by 6months time, which ain't so bad. "Lookers" is a great enough song to tide me over for awhile.
This sums up my feelings pretty much to a T. I just started jamming on Lookers again and thought "Damn this record should be out soon. Awesome." I'm a little bummed, but I'm still excited regardless. I feel like this record is going to so awesome. A single or two more before the release wouldn't hurt, though haha.
TBF I'm just glad we have a song, and a fucking incredible one at that, to tide us over until release/album anouncement. It was painful with Hotelier especially because we only had Goodness Pt. 1 for a long time and we'd heard that in November anyway. Lookers being out there makes the wait just that much easier
i thought i read online that one of the guitar players got cancer or something chronic that required attention and that was part of the hold up or something bc they weren't sure how they'd tour on it
Was kinda expecting this album to be pushed back tbh. The fact that we're in September with no set date is not a good sign for something I would expect to have a strong press campaign around it (which probably requires at least 2 months lead-in). Late Jan or early Feb you'd have to say is looking most likely now. Oh well, there's more than enough stuff coming out before the end of the year to tide me over until then, I guess.
not like it'd be worth mentioning the band Stars in this thread but let's just look at it this way: when Stars finished recording their album 'in our bedroom after the war' a few years ago, they just wanted the music out to the masses. they easily had the digital version available to order and you got the entire album right then and there with the option of preordering the physical release at the same time. it was a no bullshit tactic that seemed to make sense, at least to me, at that point and is a glowing example of what most record companies/bands should be doing. you're going to lay to waste a good album until you have album art or something else worked out? i get it, if you're really after that stellar artwork that you want to include with the album, great. but, if you have the album ready for listening ears, release it to the masses; die hard fans will still preorder/buy the album when it's ready and you'll have a better stream of fans coming to your shows. i can't listen to the album art, the music is really what sells. just my opinion of course, the menzingers, as far as i'm concerned, can do what they want or what their label asks them, i'm still going to give them my money when the preorders go up.
Fully agree. A lot of bands let vinyl production time dictate their release dates. It's the worst. No reason to not give people the digital files immediately (or soon) when they preorder the vinyl and have a no refund policy.
