That said, I have found their older fans are the typical "pop punk kids" that are a bit obnoxious. Had this at Reading this year, so I made him crowd surf so that he left us alone and we didn't see him again all show. I find the fans that like the last two albums are more palatable.
When I saw them earlier this year they were amazing, but yeah the crowd was awful and nothing was done about it. There were two people visibly fighting and they should have gotten kicked out but nothing.
Dude exactly, I'd been to two metal shows earlier that week and they were violent and fun. This was just people being dicks and trying to hurt people. Huge difference.
Their last two albums are offensively boring and the height of Yip-ness. I'm sure you disagree haha but the pop punk stuff has its own flaws too.
the old TJ stuff is whiny as hell and pretty boring, this new stuff at least is some interesting songwriting and it sounds good
Charmer and Spin are their best... I get a weird nostalgic feeling from those early albums but prefer the live versions from studio 4
Everything sounds better without Adam singing it. He's a great writer but Ben and Brianna singing his parts is just awesome.
yea I think Adam is a great songwriter and even a cool singer in his own right, but he isnt as accessible as Ben and Brianna, especially with Ben's improved vocals
it wouldn't be a music thread on this site if the conversation didn't devolve into something tangential. that's a certainty up there with death, taxes, and counterparts being better than the 1975.
A conversation devolving into something tangential is the best metaphor for my relationship with The 1975. I like a few songs by the band and I have every intention of doing a deep dive into their catalog, but I always end up getting side-tracked by something(body) else.
TJ isn't the same without Adam, Pat and Dennis. There was something really special that each of them brought to the table. Still love TJ but it's definitely not what it was before for me at least
I would love for them to use these live members on their next album, the live version of window is so good, love to hear more jams and more experimental song writing
I agree with this as well, I think it's cool that Ben played all the instruments on the album but I also think that's why it's so repetitive and a lot of it sounds the same. They really crush Window live and if they could more stuff like that on the next album than this lineup could work better for me
Something is happening with the Menzos and Neshaminy Creek on 1/20. Definitely re-releasing their beers. Hopefully a show
