of all the garbage i vocalize every now and then something worthwhile tumbles out i think Your Wild Years might be my favorite Menzos song but idk theres at least 15 songs that could get that distinction
man, i really do love After the Party, but i think it’s my fourth favorite. that is more of a compliment to the band than a slight on the record. Lesson <<<< After the Party < Chamberlain < Rented World < OTIP Tellin’ Lies, After the Party, Boy Blue, The Bars, Black Mass, Your Wild Years and Lookers are top tier Menzingers but the other half gets little play from me.
I was confused for a second there and thought someone actually thought Lesson was their best lol (I'm used to people listing as best > worst)
I like it a lot but it’s not on Mt. Menzmore for me. The only song I think is less than “really good” is Livin Ain’t Easy. They’re my second favorite band, I just don’t necessarily relate to some of these songs the way I did on past records. Doesn’t mean I don’t love singing them.
what other records in a similar realm did people love this year? my three favorite punk releases this year were Smith Street, Iron Chic and Propagandhi by a mile
hard disagree but i think ppl are taking a little too much umbrage with the fact that i don't think this is the messiah in record form so i can look for discussion elsewhere lol
Agreed that Livin’ Ain’t Easy is my least favorite on the record. If there is one knock on the band it’s that their closers are relatively weak compared to the rest of their albums.
Arguably my favorite one-liner from the record. I love Thick as Thieves and don't understand how anyone couldn't.
I disagree on Freedom Bridge as I do think that was a decent closer and a top 5 Tom song. The lyrics hit hard and conclude a depressingly miserable narrative told on that album. At least I felt. When You Died crushed me because I lost a family member to cancer the same week I first heard the track. But besides my personal connection, I agree it wasn’t the best closer. For Livin’ Ain’t Easy, yeah not the best ending. After the Party should have been the closer.
ATP is like third best Menzos but that's not a slight because they have a perfect album and a near perfect album to compete with
