I watched the Instagram livestream last night. I let out a verbal "whaaaat" when they started "Deep Sleep."
Last night was fucking awesome. Probably my favorite show I've been to all year They played Rivalries, Who's Your Partner and Kate Is Gr8. Also started covering When I Come Around but I think they forgot the words and stopped. The band was having so much fun on stage and it was just a blast. We didn't get Casey which was definitely strange but the three songs I mentioned above definitely made up for it. The only other deep cut we didn't get that I noticed they've been playing was The Shakes but Kate Is Gr8 totally makes up for that. Also! They recorded the whole show for a live album last night
I like my live albums long and full of deep cuts. That being said you gotta have Casey on a live album of theirs
Oooh yeah Gates is a must. I'm partial to the Obituaries bc that was the first song I heard from them. But I also want quite a few Chamberlain Waits songs (esp the title track). And gooood their b sides. I'd love an acoustic live album too
Yeah I mean I'm totally content with the setlist they played last night for the live album. I'm pretty sure that will be the only songs on it, but the addition of Casey, Gates and Time Tables would be appreciated
They can't just be recording one night because I can't believe Casey wouldn't be on it, and it sounds like they've been playing fairly varied sets for them, though I haven't checked
I don't know. Their TM posted "the boys are cuttin a live record tonight" on his IG and they said "Toledo we decided this morning we wanted to record a live record tonight so we're going to do that"
Taking a break from my ManOrch hype to see these guys at Bell's tonight. Fingers crossed for some combination of Rivalries/Time Tables/Casey/Mexican Guitars.
Casey is one of my favorite songs on OTIP, but I kinda like the idea that no song is safe in their set. They'll bring out a deep cut or a newer song in its place and I'm happy for it.
Great time last night at Bell's. Opened with Wild Years and no one was really into it but played Tellin Lies next and everyone lost their minds. Few deep cuts... Deep Sleep, I Was Born, The Shakes, Irish Goodbyes. Otherwise it was a very similar set to when they played the Metro in Chicago this spring. To back up our Casey conversation from yesterday... they didn't play it in the main set and the crowd started chanting for it when the band walked off after Lookers. Whether they intended on playing it or not, that's what they started the "encore" with. Definitely a fan favorite even if it's not their most popular song.
Yeah I saw them twice last weekend and Your Wild Years shouldn't be the opener. Especially when you have TWO perfect intro songs (Tellin Lies and IDWBAA). It also makes me sad watching the crowd go CRAZY nor nearly every Greg song and then being much more tame and quiet for Tom's songs. It gave me more of a reason to sing louder for Tom's songs haha
Yeah Wild Years definitely wasn't a smart opener. Everyone got stoked when they played Tellin' Lies though Also interesting note about people not going off for Tom songs because I have noticed that as well
I think that's partially because Greg's song are their biggest ones. Asshole, In Remission, Good Things, Tellin Lies, Casey... All songs that are made for yelling along to.
Still bummed that the show last night was 21+, but I didn't get back from my trip up north until late anyway. I would've been exhausted.
Yeah definitely no question Greg's songs are the bigger, most popular, and funner to sing a long and the crowd feeds off them. I've seen them 3 times since After the Party was released and I've been DYING to hear the crowd erupt for Charlie's Army but they've yet to play it at my 3 shows (and I think it's been played only 3 times all together).
I said fuck it and drove to Detroit the day after I saw them back in March and they busted it out for the first time and I've never been so satisfied with my poor decision making lol
