Saw these twice yesterday at 2000 Trees. Saw them do a small acoustic set in the forest session stage in the afternoon where they played: Midwestern States Good Things Burn After Writing Male Call Bad Catholics Time Tables Casey Lookers Then they played last on the Cave stage and the crowd was absolutely insane. Crowd surfers, everyone jumping and singing with each other and throwing beer around and possibly the most positive atmosphere of any crowd of the most positive festival I've ever been to. For the main set they played: Your Wild Years Tellin' Lies Obituaries Thick As Thieves Good Things Burn After Writing House On Fire The Shakes Nice Things After The Party My Friend Kyle Bad Catholics I Don't Wanna Be An Asshole Anymore Gates Lookers In Remission I managed to get a great video of the acoustic Midwestern States so I'm uploading that to YouTube.
I was sat right behind you in that case haha That's also the guitarist in my band taking pictures on the right. What an incredible weekend it was!
Were you the guy loudly singing along to all the Alkaline Trio acoustic songs they played over the PA haha?
Unfortunately I couldn't make it, but a few of my friends said it's more of a straight up rock and roll album and that it was really great
You were literally sat behind me then. there was three of us at first, then two others joined just before they started and sat next to me. So random haha.
Yooooooo they played Rivalries on that boat show? Very cool Hope they bust that out on the mini tour in 2 weeks. Also happy The Shakes is back in rotation
Haha yeah I was singing loudly to everything all weekend. Never been to a festival with so many of my favourite bands all at the same time, I have no voice left anymore. If you were at the front for the main Menzingers set there's a good chance I may have hugged you too haha
Front and centre with my two best friends who were seeing them for the first time, shouting, singing, jumping and hugging everyone. Good times!
Haha yeah that sounds about right. Everyone was so cool all weekend, minus one or two fools who couldn't handle their drink breaking my tent I've never known such a fantastic atmosphere for a festival.
Yeah definitely. We were camped right near the forest stage entrance too which was great. Already know I'm going for the next few years. I have Reading this summer and every year I hate the atmosphere there more.
This was my first festival in six years because of that. I was always Leeds and it was just people stealing from you, burning things down. I just got tired of it in the end, and of course the lineups at least for my taste became horrendous.
Before Lookers came out i had never listened to The Menzingers so when the record dropped i gave it a listen and liked a few songs but holy fuck i've been listening to the entire thing for weeks now and there isn't a song i don't love on it.
Same thing happened to me. Started listening back in October-ish when Bad Catholics came out. They're now my 3rd most played artist behind mewithoutyou and Brand New. This album is definitely my top album of the year and I listen to it atleast weekly
I'd still rank OTIP over ATP, only by a slim margin though. CW is a little further behind those two but still ahead of RW.
