My friends are telling me this song is incredible/its their favorite menzingers song while I'm at work. 30 more minutes until I can blast this in the car, so stoked!
Fuck man. This gets better with every listen. Love the lyrics too. Also, OTIP is one of the best albums to ever come from this "scene", or whatever it i.
This is great, unsurprisingly. Still would be interested how it sounds with a different producer. Man, some of these lyrics(while nothing mindblowing) are pulling at my heart strings.
Sha la la la Jersey Girls finally a lyric I can relate to (the joke is where I'm from is Jersey UK but he's referring to NJ cus he's american but I'm british so I don't get most of the american references lol get it) (is a diner a restaurant tho) (is it like tesco 24h except a restaurant) (somebody please explain)
I'm curious how people will react to a full album. Everyone went crazy for the singles on Rented World, then seemed to shit on the album itself for being too much of the same. The new one is definitely very much more of the same, but I think people are more ready for it now. (RW I think gets too much shit.)
if it's just like RW then I'm just going to make an album out of this and Rented World that's only Greg's songs tbh
I felt like the problem with the rest of rented world was the rest of the album wasn't like Asshole or In Remission. It had a lot of slower stuff that didn't come close to something like Rivalries or Chamberlain Waits. Overall it wasn't bad. And those two singles are two of my favorite Menzinger songs. Chamberlain Waits and OTIP just set an incredibly high bar to match.
RW was a bit too, down? If that makes sense? Idk I didn't attach to it as much as the others. Still better than most of the comparable bands, but I didn't love it
Well Tesco 24 is more similar to our Wawa and Sheetz like convenience stores. Diners are more of like pub food without the pub. And most are also open 24 hours and have a bar (though most NJ diners don't have a liqueur license so they can't serve booze) and booths the same way a pub does. I don't know if you've ever been to Johnny Rockets although I know they have that there but that's basically the platonic ideal of an American diner. Usually they have huge menus full of basically every food, breakfast lunch and dinner that you can order any time
I honestly never thought this band would write a song like that. I love a lot of their other songs but all those songs stick to similar conventions, Transient Love really switches it up and pulls it off perfectly.
