Man if this is what the album is gonna be like then I am very excited... is this confirmed as being off the album? to be honest the production sounds really good, and that is coming from someone who usually hates Will Yip's sound.
This is a band that as I've aged from a teenager to a young adult I've grown to love. Teenage me just did not get this band at all. Since then, my tastes have changed from pop-punk to more anthematic rock records. As this has happened, my interest has gone from dislike to like to love this band. Although Rented World was not for me, this is exactly what I was expecting the follow up to OTIP to be. Bit more mature and restrained but catchier, while still featuring that aspect of nostalgia they conjure up. Glad it's finally come to fruition. Man, this record is going to be great.
Nice! It's my least favourite but I still really enjoy it. I dig the title track and the closer especially. Songs like Stray Paper just haven't stuck with me unfortunately.
Handwritten was the album that got me into TGA in the first place, so it's my favorite one. I got into TGA at the same time I first heard OTIP, so Lookers having a TGA feel is just fine with me.
Yeah, I guess it replaces Irish Goodbyes as the ultra deep cut in their set. It's cool to see that in there. I will say that I thought about whether I would like the set more replacing the Shakes with Hearts Unkown or I Can't Seem to Tell. Also, how are you interpreting the "*" in the set? Is that Asshole?
This blew me away! I honestly haven't heard a song recently at first play, where I craved it over & over again. This song is a classic!
Rented World never really stuck with me, but this sounds great. Guess it's time to revisit that album
Rented World is good but Transient Love and Where Your Heartache Exists never really did it for me as far as Menzingers songs go, still good songs though. Rodent is one of their best.
Haha as a big Brand New fan you totally nailed where my unfounded fears come from. Also part of the article made me think that because of the note about their Instagram saying they had finished tracking. I didn't realize that IG post was from May and was wondering how they could put out a song so quickly after only just finishing tracking.
Haha yeah I feel like they've really done a number on people this year. I consider myself a pretty big fan of the band as well, but at this point I'm well beyond caring about what they're up to. Treating a marketing campaign like an episode of Lost is just dumb.
That song is killer. One of their most underrated for sure. Probably top 10 for me, no joke. "Remember the days when I had a conscience? Yeah, me neither"
