Was just about to start this thread. Looks like big dumb fun. Piranha 3D meets Godzilla. I'm here for it.
I've never expected this to be anything more than a Sharknado kind of movie, but it's been cracking me up just how serious they've been in promoting this and how serious interviewers have been when discussing the movie with the cast on various late night and day time talk shows, rather than just laughing at how ridiculous it is
I enjoyed the heck out of this. The set pieces were so much fun. Exactly what I wanted from this kind of movie.
I like sharks, I like movies, I'm a huge fan of Jason Statham and I like pretty much every other actor in this, I enjoyed National Treasures 1 & 2 and I thought this was painfully boring and the wrong kind of stupid. There were times my eyes literally wandered around the room looking for something more interesting and settled on inanimate objects like my futon or a weird part of my wall. I only made it part way through and shut it off. It might have been a little more fun if they went all out and embraced the gore and the carnage, but only marginally so, and it would probably still be awful. It played like an R-rated movie that was edited for TV in how it kept cutting away from the gore, which was silly and annoying.
Don't tell me it is a movie about a Megalodon and then hold it off for over half an hour. This is a travesty.
The Meg is a highly disappointing movie. On paper, all of the parts are there for it to be so fun, but it is excruciatingly boring and dull and lifeless.
