they should use the drive thru parking spaces more often for larger orders. I used to work drive thru so I know what they are dealing with, the drive thru is there for convenience and it's very convenient if getting food for multiple people especially kids that are restrained in the car and cannot run away from me. I'm sorry if my order takes longer for a single person car going through, but it's a chance you take getting behind a minivan in a drive thru.

I agree with the "know what you want before you get there. unless it's a completely new place you know what they have. and if it's a new place go inside to explore their menu.

I don't understand how people can take so long ordering at In N Out, they have like 4 things on their menu!

 

One time, about ten years ago now, @cheesus and I were in the drive through at Taco Bell and he accidentally put his 1977 Chevy Trailblazer in reverse and bumped into the car behind him. A car ahead of us, a car behind with a baffled driver, a wall to our left, and to our right an island with shrubbery about 3 feet tall. He panicked. He put that puppy in drive and fucking plowed through those bushes and got the hell out of there. I still laugh about it to this day. Guess what I’m saying is, abort lanes exist, but you have to create them lol

I used to work at McDonalds and one time a semi tried to go through the drive through and got stuck and realized that he couldn’t really go forward or go in reverse. It literally hours for him to get out of there. Fucking idiot.

 

yes, but it has to be a ridiculous amount of time, and you must first honk and see if they have any kind of response to remedy the situation, after that you're free to leave.

this happened at the mcdonalds across from the KFC where I worked.

I was super drunk once and the nearest McDonalds had closed the restaurant part but the drive thru was 24hr. They wouldn't let me walk thru. I asked them if they'd take responsibility if I went back to my apartment and got my car

because taking kids inside anywhere is a whole ordeal and I don't expect anybody with kids to suffer through that so that the 1 person cars behind them can go through the drive thru easier.

 

people with multiple orders though they need to get out and go inside, unless there is nobody in the line. that's the only exception.

 

The McDonald's at my university has a walk up window. At least it did when I was there, not sure if it's changed. It was amazing.

This is fine. I never said you HAD to have your order ready to go as soon as you pull up, only that you don't get to spend sit down restaurant amounts of time looking over the menu if you're in the drive thru. if you're taking a reasonable amount of time then by all means spend it how you want. It's when it gets to the point where it's hindering my McTrump Challenge time is when I get angry and the rule takes affect.

I think we agree with each other, again, my point in the video wasn't that the van with kids was causing a problem simply by being a van with kids in it. but rather that their ordering time was causing the whole drive thru to be backed up for whatever reason and at that point either go in or the drive thru employees should have told them to pull forward and carried it out when it was ready.

This is like the third or forth time you'd admitted I was right about a social etiquette rule and eventually you'll come to see my way of viewing social norms and abiding by social laws is the right way. i believe in you.

Yeah I think I agree with you mostly.

I didn't realize it was them in the process of ordering that was taking so long, I thought it was waiting for the order which is a different issue where they should have been parked.


also if anybody else does this challenge, use the Mcdonalds app to make it cheaper, currently in my city there is a Buy One Get One coupon for a Large Sandwich. order the Big Mac, get one free. logout of the account, create a new account do the same for the Filet O Fish and you've just cut your total down by like $6. you're welcome.
