    Subbing.

Also Agent Fresco absolutely destroys, though I don't know if I'd call them mathy.

this band is the sickest - they combine the post-rockish soaring emo with mathrock in a real cool way - the echo & the light is an amazing album

bummer is such an understatement... v_v

can we at least get a vinyl repress of The Echo & the Light [not asking Tops Helf but kind of hoping Kevin reads this and inception happens and he acquires the rights to the album and reissues it in a cool color like starburst (or even black, who the fuck cares) and maybe gives me a free copy por implanting such a good idea in his brain - also, Tops Helf 4 lyf]

Wow, so For Long Tomorrow is fucking great, huh? Such shimmering cymbal work, very engulfing guitar riffs, and it plays so successfully with patience and urgency. Love it.

And "Can't Hear Mosquitone Any More #1" has a fucking gorgeous marimba part. Talk about the most underrated keyboard percussion instrument.

Ah thanks, heard tons of great hype about Toe but slept on them. Time to change that. Yep lots of great Japanese bands in those genres.

Do you think there's any kind of satisfying explanation to why this is? Math rock I kind of get, it's frenetic and chaotic and probably mirrors life there in some ways, but post-rock is usually so serene and relaxed, and like, I've always heard that Japan is a really stressful place to live. Maybe I'm just high and making up all of this (spoiler: I'm definitely at least high).
