Yeah, it’s baffling. Really fun lil film that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Not groundbreaking or anything, but a thoroughly enjoyable romp.
(Also, I had a great time with this and will definitely go back to it, and I’d be skeptical of the opinion of anyone into the majority of modern superhero flicks who hates it… but like, it’s not that hard to understand why a more discerning movie-watcher would bounce off it. The underlying story ain’t particularly good! It’s a mess; you have to be willing to roll with charm and vibez to love it.)
It has its charms and it's not nearly as bad as people say it is, but it's still not that good either. It's just fine and very, very current Marvel formula where any ounce of emotional weight is deflated by unnecessary jokes or ridiculous scenes. Some of the fights are cool.
This is easily top 3 post Endgame Marvel Studios movies for me, but like, that’s such a low bar, and it has all the flaws that most of those flicks have. If I accept that these aren’t going to be coherent narratives… then, one, that’s an incentive to sit most of them out now, lol. But two, what I want most is the most entertaining version of that silly schlock. And, the leads and sense of humor and shorter run time make this one of the most successful for me.
I don't think I could rank them because they only have one good movie post endgame and that's No Way Home
No? I'm just stating my opinion. It doesn't need to become a debate or a ranking every time someone just says something critical.
Have you been on this site before? But I was just messing around because that’s usually what it turns into
I need to rewatch it, but my memory still thinks this was just fine. Middling MCU. Liked some things. Didn’t like some things.
