Don’t listen to that album much when I’m in the mood to listen to them, but Viscera Eyes and Day of the Baphomets are two of their best songs
Volta was recording overdubs in a Pittsburgh studio a few days ago. Already working on a new album it seems. Fuck yes
It’s a great album but it’s not what I want from the Mars Volta. If they are recording new music, I’m hoping for some longer jams
In my ideal world, new Mars Volta would be heavy, complex, long and fucking weird. That being said, this self titled album is so fucking good if you just let go of what you want it to be, some truly fantastic songs from Omar & Cedric
Their live shows are a bit weird because they mainly play a best off with 2 new songs. They sound amazing and I hope they keep touring. But I expected a lot more new songs. I have no idea which way their sound would go at this moment.
I’m expecting them to lean back into the weird. They really look to be enjoying themselves up on stage, maybe that leads to more experimental music. Good with either way, the self-titled is haunting and beautiful in its own right
i listened to this 3 times when it came out and not since. found it really bland tbh. especially the vocals. hoping for something alot different next.
Some friends of mine are at the show in Pittsburgh tonight and said it’s not even half full. Kind of crazy. I couldn’t afford a ticket, half tempted to walk over after work and see if they’ll just let me in
They're playing bonaroo in June, which means they're going to continue being an active band for a while at least. I'm guessing we see them on some more festival lineups this year
