finally have had time to dig in deeper. I would say that I LOVE 75% of the album with maybe 3 songs I just like. The ones I love are all killer however, there's some amazing stuff on this album and overall it's a winner. Even the songs that I rank the lowest are still cool
i love this album a lot hahaha. it's a cool vibe shift for them to come back to. i wish there was a bit more guitar but it makes the guitar hit so much harder when it pops up
Back-heavy album. Last five songs make this record for me. I definitely wouldn’t rate it among their best work, but it’s probably stronger than Noct or Oct for me.
I wouldn't call it back heavy, because the first two songs are two of the best, but I think the 3rd and 4th are maybe my least favorite, so the back half is more consistent to me
Yeah, first two are good (but still not as strong as the last few IMO), so I guess I’d say the middle of the album falls a bit flat.
Apparently it’s an acoustic track pre-save link. Would be sweet to get an acoustic EP or even companion album
Acoustic Volta is seriously underrated. I was obsessed with some acoustic takes of Miranda and Televators. Looking forward to it
A few months after their self-titled seventh album announced the return of Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala as The Mars Volta, the group pre- sent a potent reimagining of that reunion opus. Much more than a simple “un- plugged” reading of The Mars Volta’s 14 songs, this acoustic rendition furthers the mission of the source music, which drew into sharper focus the traditional Latin influences that have always inspired their music. This is, says Rodríguez- López, The Mars Volta’s version of a “folk record”, tracing the melodies and rhythms of the parent album back to their traditional Caribbean roots and challenging listeners to hear the group in an entirely new light.
