Songs solid but 3 minute pop Volta is kind of a bummer. Especially when Drunkship of Laterns comes on immediately after
The first one felt safe to me and it was cool. With this one it actually is a huge surprise, I'm quite glad!
these sound about as Volta (or less) as any of their other projects. i guess names are especially arbitrary when you have 2 dudes releasing under many different names. but yeah listening to these - my reaction is just “but why Volta?” these 2 songs are perfectly fine but theres not alot going on, seems maybe i wont want to return to them much. time will tell.
Would be great to get an album and hear it context, we'll see, but you're right - I'm sure it's logical to use a moniker, which will bring in the most attention though, also they can tour with their previous material then, which will also draw more people.
for anyone who missed out on Chicago tickets they are playing the rave in Milwaukee the night after Chicago. tickets go on sale at noon today
Album's not out yet and they're 100% an album-band, so I think it's too early for any conclusions to be made. But then again this is this website and people do what they do.
Personally, I dig it when a band releases anything they want under their name. Fuck the fanbase, am I right? This is their project to do whatever their little hearts desire.
all build up, no pay off. I assume is segues into the next track ala son et lumiere or something, because otherwise I don't see the point.
Yeah, liked Blacklight a lot but somewhat nervous after this one. Still confident there will be some songs that rule.
Not sure I get the disappointment here. Feel like there have always been some chill groovy jams on their albums that make the heavier moments even more impactful. I think this song is a great way of easing people back into the band before melting faces.
@Your Milkshake who are you to decide what a band is suppose to sound like? Do you really have that narrow of a mindset? Pretty embarrassing look on you.
dude this is stupid. i just listened to some music and had thoughts - like anyone else does about literally anything. im not deciding anything for anybody else. lol are you serious?
I do hope this album really does come sooner rather than later. That seems likely to be the case but I don’t want to get my hopes up only to get a surprise “December 2022” announcement next week.
This album was mostly created right before TMV were a band and many songs contain elements that went on to be part of TMV songs from De-Loused to Octaheadron. Some cool jams. Best tracks for TMV fans from this album: "Hands Tied To The Roots of a Hemmorrhage," "Tied Prom Digs On the Docks," "A Story Teeth Rotted For" and "Of Ankles to Stone"
the singer of this band did an ep of a pod i like discussing Deloused so I checked the band's 2022 release out and this is sick, very Mars Volta-sounding

I'm curious to see the track lengths. It looks to only be a single LP, so maybe it really is an entire album of short songs. Watch Clouds Hill still charge $50 for it.
I remember the record label posting a pic of it on cassette with ‘47’ on the label. Guessing that’s the length
