Yeah the track cutoffs on the official release are wild. I didn't really think of the record as one continuous song with the leak, but it feels that way now with the track changing right around a climax or chorus several times.

this is... definitely not what I expected from them. Cue the Sun is really cool

really interesting album, don't know what to make of it yet but I love that they do something totally different every time

the bass sounds/overall production on here are gorgeous too

I'm on my first listen and this is not what I expected at all. I have always admired this band for the organised chaos they can create. This mellow version of the band is not what I thought I needed. I like it a lot so far. It's so smooth.

This is pretty easily in my top three of the year so far. The lack of promotion is completely bewildering because to me, as a listener, it feels like such a fully realized vision and is arguably the magnum opus of their “pop” era - beginning with what they first started doing on Octahedron. Everything about the music sounds very intentional and no more than thirty seconds goes by without something going on that really grabs me, whether it’s the percussion in Enlazan, the meandering strings and keys leading into the synths in Alba del orate, or the brief bit of Omar’s classic electric guitar sound in Un disparity. It flows flawlessly through a series of movements with few recognizably traditional songs and I think it’s all the better for it; in my opinion, it’s their straight up coolest record since Frances.

When they played it I definitely got the sense it was supposed to be composed as one long suite or song so that checks out

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Just finished up and it's ok. Can't really see myself returning to anything on here though.

Same. I’ll probably try to catch the Portland or Boston show unless it’s crazy expensive.

I like this a lot more than the self titled. I’m glad I mostly held off on listening to the leak, this sounds a lot better.

still not what I want from them, but I like that this is weirder and noisier

    Die rad.

This one hasn't really grabbed me, just don't enjoy the slow Mars Volta stuff. I thought the self titled was slow, but this is a few steps below that. I enjoy them live, sadly missed them open for Deftones as my buddy was sick, but the reunion shows were fantastic. Went twice because of how heavy the setlist was on Deloused. Don't think I would buy a ticket to this upcoming tour though without checking out the setlist first.

This really opens up at Cue the Sun. I can see this being even better live and the jammy parts even jammier. Not everything on this works for me (Vociferó, Maullidos) but the fusiony and latin-tinged parts are the best they’ve been since Octahedron. The bass and synths sound great throughout, and the sax parts rule. I really love Un Disparo al Vacío and the title track. A very controlled-yet-complex, woozy and moody album, not intense at all. I think it’ll probs be a grower for some people for that reason.

Cedric really kills it this album. The “it’s gonna rain, so let it rain” and “this I KNOW” lines have been stuck in my head for months
