Well that was my favorite episode of the season and possibly the show so far. That could be the Ahsoka fan boy in me, but I loved it. Filoni stepped it way up since the last season. I still wish someone else was playing Ahsoka, but she did do a good job. Part of me was hoping Ashley would have done voice over work, but oh well. The final showdown was the best action sequence of the show. Love the name Grogu. I do have some nitpicks. Ahsoka seemed a little overly violent. Maybe I need to rewatch rebels, but relative to the end of clone wars where she’s doing her best to avoid killing clones, it was weird to see her in kill first mode. the Thrawn name drop was cool as someone who watched rebels, but if you hadn’t watched that it probably was just confusing. This episode does have the potential to age poorly though. If it was all just a set up for a spin-off I’ll be pretty disappointed to be honest. And I really, really hope we don’t get Luke doesn’t show up. I’m sure they could make it work. But I kind of just hope Ahsoka shows up at the mountain in the end.
I’m kind of surprised they didn’t work the imperial March in there a little bit when she alludes to a certain Jedi Knight
Not sure why people are confused about Ahsoka'e angry faces. She always had em. She also had em in the cartoons, it just translates differently here. She's also been through a lot of shit so maybe she's in a bit of a different place now. I'm willing to believe that Dave Filoni knows exactly what he's doing with the Ahsoka Tano character.
episode owned but it did feel a bit low-stakes to me. not sure I bought that Ahsoka thought she would ever be outmatched by Michael Biehn and like a dozen janky droids, considering she's killed like hundreds of droids at a time lmao also dunno why she didn't just Force the Beskar spear out of that woman's hands, but like, the samurai fight fucking ruled either way. and that Thrawn reference wow
She didn’t want to kill the clones because they were her friends and comrades. It doesn’t seem out of character that she would go after a handful of bad dudes who were enslaving and torturing a city of innocent people.
Also, I have a question about the timeline. This is happening a handful of years after RotJ, right? So Luke is reestablishing the Jedi school, right? Or is this still before that? I feel like Luke has to get involved at some point.
I totally agree. It would make sense given the timeline and if Grogu chooses to take that path. Of course if he doesn’t, I wouldn’t make sense.
I don’t think Luke gets involved. Because then that leads to questions of where was Grogu during the new trilogy. Is he dead? Do you want to think of him being dead?
Yeah Ahsoka even losing one of her lightsabers in that duel at the end was so unbelievable to me. She should have mopped the floor with that lady in 2 seconds. Or at least toyed with her if they wanted to show a longer fight. There's no way that should have been as close a fight as it was.
this is the obviously the biggest problem with Star Wars. the creators always decide to make it as difficult on themselves as possible.
I feel like she was restraining herself in that fight. She could have easily taken her out, but she needed an answer to her question. I think I saw both hilts on her at the end, but I’ll have to watch again.
Yeah, it is. Fairly confident but don’t quote me that she chose those blades because she technically isn’t a Jedi, nor is she a sigh so she chose a rather unaffiliated color.
Such a cool episode. Loved the score when ever Ahsoka was cutting through dudes. Total Blade Runner vibes. Also was confused to see people question why she seemed angry/ruthless in her killings. Like I’m just a casual fan of CW, but it’s pretty obvious why she would be upset no? Her master turned out to be one of the evilest siths ever, and the Jedi being essentially destroyed.
Well that was pretty good! Only thing was that I thought Ashoka literally looked like her cartoon version at points, the character design was a little too “block-y”. But Rosario did a great job, the name was awesome, didn’t get why Ashoka didn’t wipe the floor. This season is awesome so far.
Rebels seemed like it would appeal to me because of the timeline but I couldn’t get into it despite dedicating an entire day trying. It sucks because I really want to like it and get more lore.
That’s such a bummer. Rebels has some of my all-time favorite moments. The Thrawn stuff in rebels is great and I’m looking forward to the books.
She lost the blue blades at the end of Clone Wars. According to online stuff she built her new ones from purified sith kyber crystals so they turned white with the purifying. Also signifying she is neither Jedi nor sith. I dont think it was explained in any shows. Maybe her book, though.
Sucks to not be able to fully enjoy Ahsoka being in live action considering who's playing her but the episode was good other than that. Also the name isn't great and does sound like a caveman name.
Yea, thinking back on CW, she does have some some brutal kills. I guess I remember her being a little more at peace at the end of rebels so the opening stuck out to me a little, but it’s been a minute since I rewatched. Either way I did love that opening. I don’t think it was an issue that her fight against the magistrate was drawn out. It sounds like she was an apprentice of Thrawn’s, who was a good fighter from what I recall. Plus Ahsoka wasn’t trying to kill her. Regardless, the saber on beskar sound design was excellent. And the cutting between the fight and the standoff with Mando was excellent.
