Finished a rewatch and I like how many open questions there still are going into season 2. Baby Yoda’s past. Why did Gideon want with him? Who is Mott Gideon? Baby Yoda’s future. The history of the Mandos/the great purge. More info on the New Republic/Imperial Remnant. It’s nice to have a satisfying ending with a promise of so much more.

 

I honestly think that Baby Yoda is partially meant to tie into TROS. The guy working with Herzog's character has the Kamino cloning symbol on his outfit and as we know from the novelization, Palpatine was having trouble with containing his powerful spirit in a clone body. I personally hope it's not that, but the threads are there.

 

My theory is Moff Gideon is trying to make himself into a new Vader. The Client mentions “extracting what you need” from Baby Yoda in the 3rd episode to Dr Pershing before Mando attacks (midichlorians?), his look is very Vader inspired, and he has his own saber. This could tie into what you were thinking, but that just jumped out at me rewatching it for some clues.

 

Interesting, I kind of like that theory.

The first episode of the documentary was fantastic.

 

Well damn. Lots of news today

 

Honestly watching the first episode of the documentary thing and seeing all the directors around the round table i thought Dave Feloni was Rodriguez at first glance with his hat and I was very confused.

 

First episode was very solid. Really interesting look into the philosophy of the production. Dave's story about getting hired at Lucasfilm was great. Taika is hilarious.

 

Robert and Peyton are solid directing choices.

 

So... I had to avoid this thread for months but as the eighth episode was posted last Friday to the UK Disney+, I have finally caught up!

I absolutely loved the series - I was thrilled to not know about Baby Yoda as it was a lovely surprise. I thought some of the scenery filming was breathtaking. And my wife loved the whole thing. I couldn't be more happy.

 

How did you avoid Baby Yoda spoilers for more than a week? Are you not on social media?

 

I am but I actually didn’t go on it much from September through to the beginning of the lockdown (end of March here) so I guess I was lucky.

I don’t think it would come up much in my wife’s social media circle. And I guess most people in the UK weren’t watching it? It would only be super fans illegally streaming it - she probably doesn’t have any of those, haha!

But yes, it seems quite a thing now!

 

Ah true! Makes sense it wasn't part of the zeitgeist there just yet. It blew up here in a way I was not expecting anything Star Wars to ever blow up. Glad you were able to see him and the rest of the series spoiler free!

 

Episode 2 of The Gallery show is out today. I guess Friday will be the normal day.
